  1. I'm in the same boat. Unless this team completely collapses... But if we finish 9-7 and miss the playoffs it'll be hard to get too upset considering it'll be the first winning record in how many years? That being said, we just really need to play smarter and eliminate critical turnovers/penalties.
  2. I hear ya man. But it's not going to happen every single week with Orton or any other QB not named Rodgers, Manning, Brady. There will be plenty of teams in the playoffs this year who have QB's who have absolute crap games from their QB's. Today was not a crap day from Orton, so I'll save my ripping on Orton until he has one of those games. You know, those games like Cam Newton had last week vs. New Orleans or like Andy Dalton had this week vs. Cleveland. Or like Philip Rivers had vs. Miami last week. Those kind of games. This is not one of those.
  3. LMAO. I've been down on Hackett since last year but I don't feel today was his worst showing. Orton had almost 50 attempts which I never would've guessed going into this game vs. that pass rush - and he was surprisingly well protected. Beside the fumble, Brown also had that run where he came up 2-3 yards short on what I clearly thought was going to be an easy run into the end zone. We ended up kicking the FG there too. Nobody stepped up today on offense and it was clear that Sammy was not 100%. 1. The miss by Orton to Chandler in the end zone - that's -4 points. 2. Brown fumbling into end zone - that's -4 points. McKelvin fumbling the PR was a game changer.
  4. Other than the Chandler miss, none of the other misses in the end zone were easy. (IMO). Does Aaron Rodgers make them? Probably. Does Alex Smith? Probably not. Orton didn't this week. He's not Aaron Rodgers. Alex Smith "manages" the win is what KC will say and he looks awesome. Orton should've "managed" this win too if it weren't for critical mistakes by his teammates.
  5. I agree that we need to improve the red zone production. Your thoughts on how to do that? I feel that in our final drive in their red zone we simply threw too many times to get the TD in one play when we could've just run plays to slowly get the ball in there. I dunno. Sucks.
  6. I agree. We've had serious issues in the red zone all year. Orton appeared to improve our red zone numbers a bit when he first started but overally we continue to struggle putting 6 points on the board in the red zone. We've had several fumbles in the red zone in several games, so that's a major reason. But other than that, is it the play calling? Is it the lack of a red zone "threats"? Is it a combination of players not executing in the red zone and play calling? I have no idea, but we seem to move the ball just fine between the 20's.
  7. Lets not get carried away. Sammy Watkins was clearly not playing at 100% so the only realy WR threat he was playing with today was Woods. Did anyone expect a blowout today vs. the chiefs defense? If they did, they were foolish. The game was won w/ Orton's contributions. The game was lost with Browns and McKelvin's blunders. Did he come back this week? No. QB's don't have game winning drives every week. It happens.
  8. Orton had nothing to do with this loss. Could he have hit Chandler in the end zone? Yes. That was probably his only clear miss. The pass to Woods had to be a freaking perfect pass b/c if it's even slightly underthrown it woul'dve been an INT. The pass to Watkins at the end of the game. Meh. Those throws are 50/50. Orton's only clear miss was with Chandler. 250yds and 1TD and 0 turnovers. Look at Alex Smith - he did absolutely nothing yet they still won. Why? Their RB didn't fumble it through the end zone and their PR didn't fumble it in his own red zone causing a complete change of momentum.
  9. LOL. I actually think that between the Pats, GB, and Denv, we have the best chance to beat Denver. Why? Peyton Manning is about as mobile as a slug with salt on it. Our pass rush could create some serious pressure and cause him to throw a couple of Int's. Also, Orton going back to Denver will light them up for 300yds and 2-3 TD's.
  10. It's posts like this that make me lose my mind. It's even more disconcerting that people like the OP have the right to vote. Give me a beer.
  11. I actually thought there was a lot of positives to take out of today's game: 1. Our defense is simply sick. 2. NH finally called some run plays that were somewhat more creative. 3. We managed to get the Brown involved in the passing game (which should've been done with Spiller) 4. Most important: The pass protection was phenomenal considering Orton was only sacked 1 time vs. a team ranked near the top in sacks. We lost this game due to the screw-ups of two players: Brown and McKelvin. Simple as that. This isn't rocket science. There's no need to look into something that's not there. Brown and McKelvin lost us the game. End of story. Move on.
  12. There is something that concerns me about this teams inability to consistently score TD's in the red zone. We leave way too many points on the table and it cost us today and has almost cost us other weeks. Where the fault lies in that respect im not 100% sure. Player execution is certainly to blame in part bc we've had quite a fe fumbles in red zone this yr. But i suspect that playcalling may be the greater fault we have when it comes to moving the ball in the red zone. Not sure but its quickly becoming this teams greatest liability.
  13. EJ stunted his own career growth with his horrible accuracy
  14. Today the below average QB won. This game was lost by the 2 turnovers. Any further discussion on what cost us the game is a waste of time.
  15. The McKelvin fumble. Even w brown fumbling we still had the lead AND momentum. The mckelvin fumble was THE game changer.
  16. And why did they only score 13pts?
  17. Why is there a thread about orton after this game? Who fumbled the game away?
  18. Players lost this game, not the coaches. Mckelvin and Brown accounted for a net of -11points on the board. This was a game we had and lost. Its games like these that doom your season.
  19. So who you going with this week?
  20. You were 100% right man. As a bills fan my view was jaded. Go bills!
  21. I understand your point but just want to point out the obvious: manziel lives in an era where everyone has a phone w a camera, there are industries fully dedicated to exploiting and covering athletes, and then throw in the explosion of social media. Kelly may have been able to keep a lot of his actions private bc it was a heck of a lot easier to do so 20-30yrs ago.
  22. JOHNNY FOOTBALL?!?!?!?!?
