I asked what stopped the "rioters" that day from carrying out their plan? It wasn't the police. Or the National Guard. What force expelled the mob from the Capitol? Why did they leave? You or many others won't answer that question because the logical answer will destroy your delusions.

Storming? If they wanted to the protesters could have burned the Capitol to the ground. That would have been an insurrection. There was nothing there to stop them except for the standard Capitol Police detachment that was clearly inadequate for a crowd everyone knew would be that large. Somebody in charge choose to put this out-manned police detachment at risk. We get no answer on who gave that order and why that order was given for 4+ years. But widespread property destruction did not happen even with a fraction of the protesters that got violent. Otherwise, the other peaceful protesters entered through open doors, rather than breaking in, and wandered around the hallways then just all left the building and went home. Something the nitwits that push the "insurrection" story cannot provide any rational explanation for without blowing their story. If they were trying to overthrow the election results and take over the government why did they voluntarily just leave? No explanation provided, ever, of any kind.

Trump is keeping his promise to drain the swamp and in the process is dismantling the system of hustles and scams used by liberals to fund their agenda of social and political change. All sorts of government programs, spending millions, billions, on things of no use or need to the average taxpayer. The resistance is using the courts, judge shopping case to find accommodating judges, as a vehicle to block and obstruct the effort. Mainly because they have no other recourse. Its a game of clock management. The goal is to run out the game clock, perhaps to the mid-terms, in order to keep the damage to a minimum with the idea they can capture the House in the mid-terms and use the majority in that chamber from that point forward to 2028. The problem they face in 2025 that they didn't face in 2017 is the administration is well prepared and getting exactly what they planned for from the resistance.

The punch card reference was merely an example of outdated technology. Whether these government systems rely on that or not, its a given they have a lot of outdated technology and processes. The core of Social Security is member/customer information and payment processes. There are lots of current technologies that support those functions. Right off the shelf with possibility some configuration or custom code for specific use cases. And while transforming an organizations business process and supporting technologies can be difficult, and costly, it is necessary at times and can result in the gain of efficiency, cost reduction, and an increase in maintainability. I see it more of a replacement than a re-write. The other thing to keep in mind is the technical staff. While these COBOL systems still function you're not going to find many IT professionals, with the exception of some older workers, that are eager to spend their lives working with outdated technologies. Younger workers want to work on current technologies and cutting edge stuff. I don't blame them. My company had a program about 2014-2015 where they hired around 200 college grads for practical training to do all sorts of systems work. It was mostly successful. But the grads assigned to COBOL and other outdated work quit and went elsewhere for fresh opportunities as soon as their bonus retention restrictions expired.

The OP's original premise of quoting Khuschev is by itself comical. His tenure as leader of the Soviet Union was in the biggest moments, a failure. The blockade of West Berlin and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Yet we are to believe he was some sort of prophet? It's as foolish as the idea Trump is working in concert with Putin. As for our western allies many have yet to notice they're values for most of these countries fail to align with ours. For starters, outlawing popular political parties because they threaten the power of the ruling class and party. Using the ruse they're a threat to democracy to maintain power and neutralize the vote of citizens. And yet many insist Putin is the biggest problem while our so-called allies emulate his actions. They're morally bankrupt and have nothing of value we require. The alliance is a one way street.

Political Violence: Where Do You Stand?

J6, where hundreds of protesters charged with misdemeanor trespassing were jailed without bail or due process for upwards of 18 months and then given maximum sentences for doing nothing other than walking into the building through an open door and talking selfies. An abuse of power by the government against ordinary citizens. The same people that cheered all that on are now demanding "due process" for illegals that are criminals and members of violent gangs. -
RIP Department of Education
All_Pro_Bills replied to BillsFanNC's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't know if eliminating the Dept of Education is a good idea or not but you're dead set against it. What expertise on the functions and workings of the Dept and its effectiveness in producing better education results do you have that provides you the knowledge to know its a bad idea? Other than being against anything Trump wants. -
It's fake. Part of the psychops strategy of the resistance plan to convince the public of another Democrat created story. This one being that somehow Musk is running the executive branch and all these changes are a secret and nefarious scheme to enrich an already wealthy cabal of unnamed oligarchs. Give it up already. ABC's GMA repeated this fake story this morning say Trump denied the story. Said it was a lie, but...

I know what I would do. I'd appeal their rulings, get them overturned, or have a stay issued against them, then provide these judges with all the information they could ever want on these programs and orders. Dump 500 or 1000 or so boxes of documents and printouts, copies of every e-mail ever sent on the subject and tell the ass holes to go through everything and then get back to me 20 years later. Oh, and just for fun redact a lot of pertinent information so they need to go to court to force disclosure.

The Trump administration is withholding $175 million from the University of Pennsylvania due to the school’s failure to ban men from women’s sports. Who's got the "DC District court" in the March Madness Judge Pool as the one that issues the injunction prohibiting the administration from blocking the funds?

Anyone remember punch card decks used for computer programming? Those SS systems are so old they're probably still using them. But don't change or modernize anything to some level of technology commonly used in the 21st century because it might risk interrupting the antiquated systems and processes used at the agency.

RFK In Charge of Health Care

I think the innovators at 100's of small to medium sized biotechs that are doing great research and studies on promising treatments and cures for many conditions will find the FDA and other government agencies more receptive where the influence of big pharma will be diminished as a result of new leadership. Time will tell whether my expectations are correct or incorrect. -

I see this as a time to be optimistic. Now there's hope that government health agencies will be focused on the health and safety of Americans rather than what it been. Which is prioritizing the profits and market control of drug makers and insurers. -
People still believe the markets are driven by the economy. But they're not. They're driven by speculation over the direction and timing of Fed monetary policy actions. Today, the conclusion after Powell's statement and press conference was monetary policy would be very accomodating and likely 2 rate cuts in 2025. So buy, buy, buy along with a short squeeze makes for nice up day.

There is some personal relationship between the two that might impact Robert's opinion here. And cards on the table, we all know this isn't about following the law but rather its about liberals using lower courts to resist the administration's actions absent any power to do so through the executive branch, Congress, or the SCOTUS. Over time higher courts will likely back the administration. But the injunctions are effective in blocking and delaying the agenda with little to no consequences. Really, otherwise what is the purpose of a ruling blocking the deportation of illegal criminal gang members? Do liberals believe gang members are deserving of their attention like other marginalized groups they claim to protect?

This article cites an increase in seasonal flu deaths and claims it's the result of disinformation yet provides no evidence or study linking the claimed cause and effect. Just the reporters subjective opinion. It's more likely the increase is do to cause of death reporting, the strength of this seasons flu strain, and efficacy of this year's vaccine. Plus the number of people exposed to the virus. -
Then proclaims anyone dying has committed a crime. Demands St. Peter send their souls back to face sentencing. But Peter says too late, the angels were already in flight! Judge demands God appear before the court to explain. Or face impeachment if Democrats regain control of the House in 2026. Liberal leadership plans to install Satan as new leader saying it time to reveal the truth and make him their official party head. So now we know who was really the President during the Biden term.
