  1. Ain't that the truth....when the team have consecutive seasons like the mid 80's then its time to really panic....
  2. A really good article and as noted above, balanced. I'm not a big Rex fan but think it silly to fire him after one year. If the team craps the bed again next season then there could be a strong case for change IMO.
  3. It might get you in the playoffs but it certainly won't carry you very far...
  4. Have you watched the OL this year? You think they're playoff caliber? Taylor is really the answer at QB? He's the best they have, I get that. The defense is a mess for sure which no one expected, but that wasn't part of the hype in the off season.
  5. 4 more missed years of playoff's ties the New Orleans Ain'ts for the most consecutive years missing the playoffs since the leagues merged.....do the paper bags come out soon?
  6. That was awesome to say the least, particularly because no one expected State to win....i'm pretty sure that when Valvano took time out with 44 seconds left I prayed something to the effect of "God, let State win this and I'll never ask for another championship of any other team I root for....thus the Bills SB frustrations and the disputed goal in the Stanley Cup for the Sabers....sorry everyone...
  7. Were you on campus when State won in '83? If so you probably remember how crazy that was....and great point about the AFL Bills....i was only five though so can't say i recall it.
  8. I'm a 1982 graduate of NC State. Was in Chapel Hill, NC in '82 when Carolina won the NCAA which was cool to experience and then fortunate enough to be back at State the night they beat Houston in '83! It was awesome and I'll never forget it. I am pretty certain, being born and raised in WNY, that's why God won't let me live to see the Bills win a SB. I was at RDU airport with thousands of other fans when the team got back. Wasn't able to stay for the ceremony back on campus later that week.
  9. Ed - I respectfully disagree. The team has a starting QB that probably won't kill them. I don't think they have a QB that can lead this team past a a wild card game or two. As for the O-Line, yep, 40% change just like what seems like the last 16 seasons....we'll see, my only point is that from my vantage point there didn't seem any particular reason to buy in to Rex's hype this year. But wasn't part of the hype that we finally had a good coach?
  10. Was there any reason to buy into the hype when the key issues with the team weren't addressed like O line and QB? What was very disappointing to me is the step back the defense took. I am interested to see if, as I've read on this board, Ryan doesn't have the right players to run his style of defense. I just think a good coach takes the players he has and comes up with something that those players can execute.
  11. Since I'm going to the game I expect a full collapse by the Bills....most of my Redskin fans co-workers expect the Skins to tank for the very reason the Bills crapped the bed last week - important game for them...Bills 28 - RS 24.
  12. Great pick and now that RW's out of the way makes a ton of sense....
  13. I wish I could buy season tickets for the Bills but living in VA makes it prohibitive - though I recall someone on this board lives in the Richmond area like me and has season tickets. That would be a really hard sell to the Mrs. As many of you said, it's not so much how the teams playing but the fun of attending an NFL game.
  14. I think none of them is the right answer.....
  15. My 21 year old son, who of course wasn't around for any of those SB teams and has become a big Bills fan sent me a text to tell me how much he enjoyed the show (kids don't call anymore, right?). He never fully got how important the Bills are to Buffalo (he's only visited, not lived there like I did). He's back from school this week and I'm looking forward to talking to him about getting up when you've been knocked down. It's his second shot at college and the first didn't go that well so we'll see what happens.
  16. I tend to agree with this. As much as I don't like the coaching staff and there could be some marginal tweaks made there, following Cleveland's lead and blowing things up every three years just hasn't worked for the Bills.
  17. Can't wait to hear the BS that ol' Rexy will sling at the post game presser
  18. Wonder if they'll huddle during this drive?
  19. When's the last time the Bills blocked a punt? Now would be a wonderful time.
  20. Nice play by Williams....
  21. A loss sticks the fork in the playoff's this year, right?
  22. My mom and dad were part of the crowd that went on the field after the Bills won the AFL championship in '64. My mother, who is 88, will still you about how someone accidentally stepped on her leg and caused a pretty serious bruise.....fun times...
