I'll respectfully counter it this way: Who was the only receiver in the NFL with whom Tyrod Taylor has a proven comfort level? Who was the only cornerback on the roster at the start of training camp that has proven that he can play in the NFL at a high level? By the simple metric of giving up those 2 players they're worse off. How much worse off is the question.

Jordan Matthews chest injury (update: Sternum chip)
thebandit27 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have to stop stating that Sammy didn't want to be here. In fact, we have to stop saying that about players altogether unless there's some kind of indication that that's the case. He said, quite clearly, that he wanted to be here for his entire career. -
Bills' 2017 Training Camp Discussion - Final Day

See my point above. It's different if it's an apparent isolated incident in practice. By all accounts, this practice has been rife with fights, a player mouthing off to a coach, etc. That's a systemic lack of focus all-around. You read about one incident with Edelman and Gilmore; you certainly did not read about either of the offending players mouthing off to Belichick or Matt Patricia. -

I'm unsure what I wrote that makes you think I'm taking anything too far. When adversity hits is precisely when focus matters; anyone can be focused when things are hunky dory. My response was to the poster that was apparently pleased with the scrappiness. Saying that it's understandable is one thing; lauding it as something long-missing from the team's mentality is another. It's incorrect, and the trait itself is counter-productive. -
I don't think he'll get traded, but if he does, Dallas would have to be a good bet. They still need a proven pure pass rusher, and he's from near the Houston area.

Um, I'm quite relaxed. This coach has preached discipline; these guys need to get on board. That's all. -
Well, I guess we know who's next.

You're joking, right? Fighting and scrapping after plays shows me a mentally weak team that has no focus. It's the exact reason that teams like NE and NYG got Rex's Buffalo teams to commit 15+ penalties and literally hand them the field position battle. Sure, play pissed off from the snap to the whistle if that's what you need to do; maintaining focus and discipline at all other times is what prevents giving away games with penalties. -

Honestly, if the team is going to implode, and there are guys that aren't on board with what the new regime is putting together, then yes, they should ship them for picks. I'd be thoroughly disappointed to see what looked like a team that wasn't incredibly far away be totally dismantled, but if you're committed to rebuilding then it's smart to clear the rubble. -
Greatest WR you've seen in your lifetime

I feel in love with football in the 80's and watched Rice his whole career. I grew up thinking that I'd never see anyone play the WR position better than he did...and when Randy Moss burst onto the scene, I had to wrestle with whether or not he was better. By the time 2013 had rolled around, I was astonished to come to the realization that--somewhere along the way--I became thoroughly convinced that I'd rather have Calvin Johnson in his prime than either of them. -

Good grief...I'm hardly a doom-and-gloom type, but is this team about to implode? -
Greatest WR you've seen in your lifetime

For me, Calvin had everything. He was huge, and couldn't be knocked off the ball by big defenders. Teams literally put 3 defenders on him, knowing the ball was going his way, and it didn't matter. Nobody ever did stuff like this. He had 4.3 speed, so guys like Patrick Peterson couldn't even run with him. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap2000000244679/Johnson-72-yard-TD-reception He had incredible hands and athleticism: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTYhvhthtBI -
Jordan Matthews chest injury (update: Sternum chip)
thebandit27 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not for nothing, but I said almost the exact same thing about Watkins last year. He will play through it; he's been out there for 29 of 32 games as a pro...and he started all of those 29. -

So between Sammy and Matthews, only one of them will be available today to their team... -

But you said in the Sammy thread that completing practice doesn't mean that he's 100%, so clearly he's not healthy. Right? 😂 -

It's gotta be one of Rice, Moss, or Calvin Johnson. If you told me to pick one of the 3 in their prime for my team, I actually think I'd go with Megatron. Nobody ever had the combination of size, speed, and hands like he did. It was almost unfair when he was on the field -
"He didn't want to be here" is ALWAYS what a certain faction of fans will say whenever a player leaves via trade or UFA. It's almost never the driving factor. Sammy would've played here if he were paid what he wanted, just the same as Gilmore would've re-signed here for the right price (like Hughes, Glenn, and many others over the years)

Nate Peterman Love .. anyone vs. 2018 QB draft??
thebandit27 replied to WideRightRevenge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I've said since the pick: if Peterman turns out to be a competent NFL backup, then that's a 5th round pick well spent -
Nate Peterman Love .. anyone vs. 2018 QB draft??
thebandit27 replied to WideRightRevenge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if this staff comes out of 2017 convinced (somehow) that Peterman can (or will) be the guy, they should absolutely be looking to acquire another potential franchise QB in the 2017 draft. Injuries happen. Regression happens. Holdouts happen. Suspensions happen. Being over prepared at the QB position would be a 180-degree turnaround for this franchise -
Rams' fan reaction to Sammy trade
thebandit27 replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For me, you can scratch Cooper and Jeffrey from that list. Sammy did more in 13 games in 2015 with Tyrod and EJ than Cooper did in that same year playing 15 games with Derek Carr. Also, when was the last time you looked at Jeffrey's numbers?
