  3. Better nickname: "The Erection Company" My random Bill selection is Kendrick Office. Somehow, someway, the guy got 2 sacks of Tom Brady in his only start in 2001. He was an absolutely horrendous football player.
  4. So since Jimmy Garoppolo got $27.5M, so too should Geno Smith, right? Most recent!
  5. For a 2-time pro bowl cornerback who was demoted when he couldn't play through a groin injury And no, he shouldn't get the same money as Amerson, who went through 3 teams prior to finding his niche as a middling starter. Davis is one year older than Joe Haden, who got $9M AAV last offseason. By comparison, he's a bargain.
  6. What are you talking about??? His base deal value is $5M. He can earn up to $8M in incentives, which means that the additional $3M doesn't count against the cap. $5M for a starting CB, when you're paying your other starting CB a rookie salary, is a steal.
  7. Indeed Indeed again...plus, gives the team a chance to draft a zone corner in the mid-rounds and coach him up to replace Davis in another year (and get the much-coveted COMP PICK!!!)
  8. Ian Rapoport ‏ Verified account @RapSheet 6m6 minutes ago More The #Bills signed former #Colts CB Vontae Davis to a 1-year worth $5M base, source said, with $3.5M of that guaranteed. The max he can earn is $8M. Leavs Buffalo with ~$28.8M in cap space at the moment. Figure $8M of that will go to draft picks, so you've got ~$20M to spend on re-signings and UFAs
  9. I wouldn't expect to receive much more than the 2018 3rd and 2019 2nd that Seattle gave up for Duane Brown Um, what?
  10. He missed 2 games at the beginning of 2016 and the final 3 games; in between, he started 10 consecutive games. He's hardly been the injury-plagued type over his career, and the rush to jettison a guy that's proved himself a very good player at an important position boggles my mind.
  11. So because he had one season where he missed more time than he played, he's constantly injured? That's poor analysis IMO. Glenn played in 25% of the team's offensive snaps in 2017. How about since he was drafted? 2012 - 79.43% 2013 - 100% 2014 - 98.49% 2015 - 98.51% (this was after having a kidney removed by the way) 2016 - 61.75% Constantly out of the lineup? No. Coming off of an injury-plagued season for the first time in his career? Yes.
  12. I would argue that Thompson's 27 catches weren't "just fine" (EDIT: that probably came off as a snarky comment--it isn't intended that way FWIW). He was simply the least lousy WR on this team in terms of production. Then again, he wasn't really asked to do much more than run the 2 or 3 routes he's capable of running well (which is actually good coaching IMO), so it doesn't surprise me. The reason Sammy's volume-based production wasn't there is because of the way McVay runs his offense. He likes to rotate his WRs to keep them fresh and give them an advantage against opposing DBs. His target-based production was right where it's been the rest of his career: very good. 8 TDs on 70 targets is crazy.
  13. Define constantly on the bench...up until last season he played in 90% of the team's games for his career. Miller missed more games as a rookie than Glenn did in his first 4 seasons in the NFL, so that's a horrible assessment of their respective availability. As to Glenn's performance last year, 3 of the team's 5 best rushing performances came with him in the lineup...and the other two were the LAC game (where they were able to run the ball once down by 5 scores) and the Indy game where passing was impossible. Maybe it's worth considering if your opinion holds water before you throw stones?
  14. That's because yardage and receptions are almost always a function of targets, and Deonte got the same number of targets per game as Watkins. If you include Thompson's 5 games with Chicago, their numbers are almost identical across the board...until you look at receptions of 20+ yards (9-7 in favor of Sammy), first downs (33-17 in favor of Sammy) and TDs (8-1 in favor of Sammy). That's why it's important to look at volume-based statistics versus performance-based ones.
  15. Wow Coach...that's a nigh-brilliant plan. Seriously.
  16. I'd be way happier going with Dawkins/Glenn at tackle and signing Joe Hawley to compete at the interior spots. I'd keep Miller and Mills and let Ducasse go. At some point on day 3 you can draft another interior guy to compete for the RG and interior swing spot.
  17. The team can save just as much by cutting both Mills and Ducasse. I think some folks need to ask themselves: would you rather have Glenn, or the combination of Mills and Ducasse? If the answer isn't readily apparent, then those folks are watching a different game than I am
  18. Does "having two good starting tackles" count as a reason to keep him?
  19. I said it elsewhere, and it's something that I haven't seen anyone (poster, media member, analyst, etc) mention... Sean McVay is doing with WRs what Steve Spagnuolo did with pass rushers; he's dressing 6 quality WRs and rotating them in bunches. And just like when OTs that had to play 70+ snaps per game couldn't hold up against Spag's pass rushers, CBs that have to play 70+ snaps per game can't keep up with McVay's WRs. As to Davis: smart signing that could be sneaky in terms of value. Now go get me Joe Hawley as a gameday interior backup and I'll be thrilled with the pre-UFA work.
  20. Nobody mentioned his meager production? Gee, I feel like I said it in every single post
  21. They have, at most, 4 potential compensatory free agents that they'll lose: Gaines, Matthews, P. Brown, and then maybe one of Deonte or Henderson. It's unlikely that they'll sign fewer than 4 CFAs with all of this team's needs, but finding a guy like Davis is a good start. I'd like another non-compensator guy like Joe Hawley to fill a key need and put them in the running for comp picks, but I'm far more interested in assembling talent
  22. Jewell is another guy that's a scheme fit, but I have him as an early day-3 guy; not quite the athlete that some of the other off-ball 'backers are this year. Leonard is a small-school guy--South Carolina State. Played with one of my 2016 sleepers: Javon Hargrave. He's played several positions including safety, EDGE, and ILB. He's very athletic and will test extremely well, but he's also a sound tackler. His only limitation is that he's very light--I expect he'll come in in the high 220's in weight this week.
  23. I think the best move would be to wait until round 2 and grab a guy like Darius Leonard. I love that kid, and I think he's a perfect fit for what we do defensively.
  24. Actually, my exact comments from 2017 were that there's not one thing that Matthews can do as well as Sammy, including stay healthy. Guess I was right. And, amazingly, you're still missing the point. Sammy showed with the Rams the exact same traits that he showed here: that he's dominant when he's targeted. He doesn't get the targets for some reason...part of it is that McVay's offense is doing with WRs what Spagnuolo's defense did with pass rushers back in 2007; he's discovered that if he dresses 6 quality WRs and rotates them in bunches, opposing CBs who have to play 70+ snaps per game can't keep up (Spags did this with pass rushers and OTs who have to play 70+ snaps). What has Landry shown? He's shown that he can produce a lot of receptions and mediocre yardage/TD/first down totals if given a glut of targets. Hooray, let's pay him like he's elite.
  25. And what happened when Jordan Matthews got over 100 targets? http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/16763/jordan-matthews Odd how similar his production-per-target numbers are to Landry's in those first 3 seasons isn't it?
