  1. I think McKelvin is a shutdown corner. Mcgee has been another story this year. He seems to lack the great cover skills that Mckelvin has but is still one of the top corners in the league, IMO. Im still not sold on Florence, he doesn't have the speed or power to get up in the WR's face and stick on him through the route, and he's penalty prone. Agreed tho, we need to blitz these QB's and force our DB's and safeties to make plays. Hoping Byrd has his first pick this week.
  2. I have MJD as well, didn't think of how much his catches will go up if trent starts. SAWEEEEETTT!!!!!
  3. I'm going to say that Trent does get the start. Not saying I want him to, but I think he will get the chance to prove himself. on that note, he will probably get injured and Brohm will come in and save the rest of the season.
  4. I might be wrong here so correct me if I am...If we are still struggling on the line by the season start, I think he will run a simliar offense as he did in KC, the Pistol I think it was called. I think its a three step drop with added protection from two backs. It should also protect him better from the left which is currently everyone's gripe at the moment. And I know this isn't the answer to everything but if you have a strong consistent running threat, it opens up the passing game. and if you have two backs (spiller, jackson) that can make plays after the catch, a dump off is equally threatening.
  5. Ya I'm sure this team would be so much better if you were calling the shots. There is a reason the people in the front office are in the front office, they're smarter than any of us. Maybin a bust...give me break! He hardly had any play last year, his ROOKIE year. standup, turn your bar stool back over and stop screwing yourself with talks of last season. New coach, new offense, completely new defense=new team
  6. As much as I agree with this b/c lets face it, its the truth...I am hopefull when I see OTA Highlights and here that Trent is hitting guys across the middle and has been throwing downfield. Not saying its a sign of the second coming of Trent Edwards (not sure when the first one was) but it is atleast good to hear. I'm just an optimist which you kinda have to be to enjoy being a fan of this team because if your not then you will just be depressed for the entire 16 weeks of regular season. I am just hopeing that these two aspects of Trent's game that he struggles with were a result of his crushed confidence that came from a bullsh@t HC that never once showed any confidence in him. Good points tho, nice to hear something from someone who isn't a negative nanny
  7. both sides of this post are a joke. Not a single person here has worked in any front office or on the field for a NFL team. Whoever posted about players commenting on how mental toughness and player conditioning has been seriously lacking for the past decade was right on...and thats about the only person. Is Trent a great QB, not that we have seen...Can he be, we have seen him play some great games and really shine at times so I say yes...Under the right coaching! If your going to try and say that Dicks complete lack of competativeness, the differences between Schonert and Dick during Trents begining years, and the F@ck up of everything that went down last year hasn't negatively impacted Trent's confidence and performance than I would say your crazy. Im not syaing that its and excuse for Trent by all means, but I feel he was doomed from the start under that coaching regime. The Strength and Conditioning (or lack there of) from last year was middle school compared to what Gailey is expecting from these guys now. Watch the OTA's highlights, everyone says they haven't worked this hard since college or Rookie year...Everyone! Up the strength and conditioning and we lose less players to IR. I agree the offensive line struggled last year but there are too many factors to judge why that happen. One could be ignorant and blame it on lack of talent but look at the first few weeks last season and it wasn't that bad considering they were for the most part all rookies for the position they were playing...then we got hit by the injury bus and had to start pulling guys off the street. All I'm saying is I don't think we can judge any position/player based on the last couple years performances. At least give it till preseason to see what chan can do with these guys. If he can make Trent look half as good as he did Thigpen (add in Freddy, Lynch, and Spiller to that) then I think we will have a good chance at competing within our devision for the first time in...way too long. catch you at the opener
  8. why is everyone giving up on Maybin? The kid barely got any play and was playing a position that he was way undersized for in the NFL. If we didn't have a dumb-a$$ coaching staff they would have tried to place him somewhere that fit him better. Like Outside Linebacker. Give us a 3-4 defense and put Maybin on the outside and I bet he does well.. He's not a huge guy, but he has enough size and speed to make an impact at OL.
  9. Thats funny, if your joking... and I hope your are!
  10. Perfect! I can't stand all the people who whine and rant about how Vick shouldn't be in the NFL and if he lands the job in Buffalo your not going to be a bills fan. I say good, leave! Then we won't have as many worthless, opinionated, hypocritical, "lets jump on the bandwagon" posts and threads. this guy said it perfectly. Vick did his time, paid his price, and I would love to give him a chance to step back into the huddle as our starting QB.
  11. I think Maybin would be alot better right now if he had gotten more play throughout the season. They should have put him in at OL a long time ago. Its not his fault we had Dickboy
  12. That also might have some validity. I guess if Fitzpatrick goes 3-0 against the 3-4 schemes of our division oponents we will have an idea if it falls on whether the QB is able to read the defense and adjust
  13. I would think that if we switched to the 3-4 though we would be better prepared to face it on sunday. Last year we went 1-8 against 3-4 fronts and 6-1 against 4-3 fronts. Its obvious that we are not able to prepare successfully to go up against that kind of scheme.
  14. No more 4-3 defense. We need to adapt to the 3-4. Most of the top defenses in the league are 3-4 and every other team in our division is 3-4. We need to find a top Noze Tackle in the draft and bring in a HC or DC that will install a 3-4. We already have some decent options to use as DE and as far as LB's go...Mitchell and Poz are good IL and I think we should be looking at Maybin for OL.
  15. Here is a thought... IF (big IF) Fitzpatrick continues his success as our starting QB...Putting up 200 plus yrds passing, couple TD's and little to no INT's a game...Should we still look to the draft for a QB??? IMO...if this happens I would rather use our first couple picks to get some linemen or an OL, better yet a noise tackle to switch to a 3-4. My point is that if RF seems capable of being our starter...I like the idea of Brohm having another year to develop on our team as our #2. If he has/had so much talent in college (could have been #1 overall had he come out a yr. earlier) I like our chances with him if we bring in a good HC or OC to develop him, like Weiss (for OC not HC). opinions, rejections, in favors... remember I said BIG IF!!!
  16. I think it doesn't matter if he commits or doesn't. We won't hear a thing until a final decision has been made. however, I think we have a good chance of getting Shanahan. Obviously Ralph is willing to spend the big money or else he wouldn't even bother meeting with Shanahan. Ralph has got to know before he even meets with him that he needs to be prepared to throw some serious $$$ at Shanahan. and I don't think that it is necessary because we are buffalo, but because Shanahan is going to have a lot of offers coming his way at the end of the year. food for thought
  17. If you have been to any of the games this year then you would see that Trent misses a lot of receivers that are open. Jim Kelly has spoke about this. You don't see it when watching it on TV but apparently these situations happen all the time with Trent. I'm not discrediting that Trent my still have some side effects from the concussion, but I know that he consistently misses T. O. and Evens when they are open. I'll take anyone that puts up 297 yrds passing in a game over Trent anyday.
  18. It's against league policy for teams to talk to potential coaches when they still have a coach in place. This was the best way for Ralph to handle the situation. Fewell seems to be handling the transition with ease and will probably do better the Jauron. Now that we don't have a head coach we can talk to whoever we want about being our coach. Interim head coach is the exception to the policy. Also we are the only team right now that is able to talk to potential coaches. By waiting till the end of the year we would have been competing with at least 6 other teams for available coaches. Food for thought
  19. Russ Brandon isn't going anywhere. He is a good Business/Marketing guy for the team. Just keep him away from football decisions and we will be fine
  20. This morning on WGR they were talking about Shanahan and said that we could get him for alot cheaper than what most people think. They said that he is still under his contract with Chicago which says that if he signs somewhere else (Buffalo)and they are paying less then what chicago owes him... Chicago has to make up the difference.
  21. I heard awhile back that after Shanahan got fired he started looking into new defensive schemes. Apparently he realized that his defensive scheme was outdated and used up. just some food for thought...
  22. Your an idiot. Schobel is one of the last people you should be calling out. He isn't even having bad year, just not lights out.
  23. How many of those got little play as a rookie and then placed on IR during their second year. Your making a claim based on facts about other players not the one being discussed. In the little time that Hardy as played in the NFL he has 9 rec. for 87 yards and 2 td's. I'll take that
