  1. Goff was gashing them for more than that. My point is that whether Gurley was running effectively or not, they didn’t really need him to. Everyone in the stadium can know that a guy is passing every play now and they can be just as effective, regardless of whether they have established a running game. You see it all the time.
  2. In the history of the NFL, guess how many times there has been a game where both QB's threw for 400+ yards, 3+ TD's and 0 INT's? Three times. Guess how many of those games have occurred in 2018? Two. Yes, the game is very different now.
  3. These were literally supposed to be the two best defenses in football and both QB's pitched perfect games with double digit K's. And this is happening every single week. It's a new era, that's all I'm saying.
  4. And yet Cousins was 36-50 for 422 yards, 3 TD's and no picks. Prior to a decade ago, that would've been the most efficient stat line we'd ever seen from a QB. Now, multiple QB's put up numbers like that every week! The guy he played against had an even better stat line than that!!
  5. I agree 100%. I'm saying that is changing right now as we speak. I actually just looked up on football reference and while everything is of course trending toward more pass attempts, more passing yards, less rushing attempts, yards, etc., the numbers are not as staggeringly different as I thought they might be, or at least how it feels. Perhaps things will change when it gets colder/closer to playoff time but right now it's seriously like, what is the point of running the ball ever? But FWIW, the Super Bowl last year was another one of these arena league games like tonight.
  6. Admit? I am one of probably like five people on planet Earth who is diehard Bills and Wyoming football. I am like half gay for Josh Allen. Going to Wyoming-Boise State on Saturday.
  7. Yes, I am aware that not every game looks like this one. My point is that the Steelers on Monday night can just come out and not mask the fact that they're not even trying to establish any sort of running game, pass every play, everyone in the stadium knows it, and they can be effective that way and win. And it's not just hall of famers like Roethlisberger. More than half the QB's in the league can do this now. Blake Bortles did it two weeks ago against New England.
  8. What is even the point of running the football anymore? Seriously? You no longer need to establish the run to keep defenses honest. Every decent QB in the league (and at this point, due in part to the rules making it easier to play QB, who doesn't have a decent QB?) averages 7-8 YPA. So really, why run? To average 4 YPC and create a more manageable third down? All the good teams just pass every play at this point and are taking what they want. It used to be, if a QB had 450 yards and 4 TD's it was because his team was down the whole game and, usually, lost. Now 450 yards and 4 TD's is good for the third highest fantasy total among QB's in a given week. This is what the NFL has wanted for years and now they've got it. I grew up watching great running backs. I love 21-17 football games where every yard is hard-earned. I think this sucks.
  9. Correct. As someone who's left but visits often, has tons of family there and is aware of the progress Buffalo has made, I will defend Buffalo when people s**t on it but there also exists this "look at us, we've arrived, we have a few food trucks, our population is stagnant rather than it plummeting every year, there's so much to do here now, it's just like Brooklyn" mentality in Buffalo that I think some people need to pump the brakes on a little bit. OK, a lot. The truth is most definitely in the middle. Yes, it does not suck, if you can't find anything to do, you need to look in the mirror. But if you are used to living in a bigger city, it's still a little hokey and your options are rather limited.
  10. Are there really people on here who are too young to remember Ryan Denney?
  11. Ok well I certainly don’t think Josh Allen is treating this opportunity like he’s being thrown to the wolves, but he is, and I’m definitely rooting for him anyway.
  12. And the Bills think they can beat the Vikings on Sunday. Me and the sportwriters think they won't. Do you think they will?
  13. What is the debate here? Like anything else in the world there is a spectrum of good to bad. On the spectrum of situations to be thrust into to start one's NFL career, Patrick Mahomes has had as ideal a situation as a QB could possibly have and Josh Allen has had as not ideal a situation as any QB could possibly have. That's just reality. These "win one for the Gipper" speeches about never giving up and not making excuses have nothing to do with anything. This shouldn't be controversial. If we were the same speed and running a 100 yard sprint and I started on the 40 yard line and you started in the end zone, I would have a better chance of winning the race. Is that controversial, or is it like, you're just gonna eat more Wheaties than me and will yourself to victory? You people have watched Rudy one too many times I feel like.
  14. Just so many things. It was Manuel's first game. And you are throwing out all sorts of straw men everywhere. Who said Josh Allen wouldn't have "asked for" this opportunity? I'm sure he's very excited. Who said Allen won't have an opportunity over the course of his career to prove whether or not he is a franchise QB? Who said anything that contradicts your whole motivational poster statement about succeeding? Look, this doesn't have to be a debate: apples to apples, who has been put in a more ideal situation to succeed, Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen? It's a pretty straightforward question. Who has a better chance of winning more games, Mike McCarthy or whoever the Cardinals coach is? This tough guy, "no excuses" talk is hysterical. Why can't you just acknowledge reality? WHO SAID THAT?!? STOP WITH THE STRAW MAN BS!!
  15. So you’re saying Josh Allen’s situation isn’t ideal? Oh you too must not be very successful.
  16. Exactly. Excuses are for losers. There’s no reason Austin Peay can’t beat Alabama, they just don’t want it bad enough. Anyone who thinks Austin Peay isn’t in an ideal situation if they go to play Alabama, isn’t successful in life.
  17. You said WAAAY before. You didn't. You just had never stopped to think about when it started. It started in 2015 and then really took off in 2016. I think we can both agree that it doesn't really matter. Apology accepted.
  18. Yeah it's super easy. You don't need coaching, an offensive line, a defense, weapons to create separation- all you need is that "can do" attitude and you'll be successful.
  19. Dude a) then provide a link. Your response sounds very much like a concession. A video on twitter, facebook, instagram- anything that shows one person going through a table at a Bills tailgate prior to 10/5/15. And it's too late for you to go "well who cares anyway"- you're the one who brought it up, made it into an issue and then made it contentious by calling my brother a "f****** liar." And more importantly, b) what is wrong with you?
  20. I know it's in the article. Again, he is my brother. And yes, I can provide a link to a deadspin article from 10/5/2015 that clearly shows my brothers and their tailgating crew in the video. In the article, it certainly sounds as if the writer hadn't seen anything like it before. I am a pretty avid Bills fan and I can tell you that that video went viral and at the time, I hadn't seen it before. So yes, please provide a link for evidence of table smashing prior to 10/5/2015 and you win. Who said he wouldn't?
  21. Link? So who has had a more ideal situation to walk into to start their NFL career- Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen? If you answer Mahomes, you are necessarily not a successful person? OK.
