  1. Had to dust it off, at least. After the ensuing coughing fit they were ready to go.
  2. So why when we get it down there do we suddenly not have a play called and have to burn a timeout?
  3. WTF with Kelsay in deep coverage
  4. !@#$ you Whitner
  5. What time do the NFL games start?
  6. Looks like that's working out well.
  7. Not to worry. We're just setting them up for later.
  8. They're playing like hell so far. Especially Williams.
  9. Ironic that there is still talk of putting a franchise in LA... a city that BOTH the Chargers and Raiders left. The Big One can't come soon enough as far as I'm concerned.
  10. I think Sally Jenkins basically said that about Clinton Portis.
  11. SHE asked for it because her producers made her do it?
  12. Ah yes, the old "I work in XYZ Profession so I know everything about it" argument.
  13. Too late.
  14. And some will walk back to their lockers sans towel for other reasons. In fact, if you read "Bronx Zoo" or any of several other tell-all sports books from the '70s, Sparky Lyle and the others are pretty explicit in describing how some athletes deliberately harassed female reporters when locker rooms were first "opened" to reporters of both genders.
  15. You're right. Instead they'll call people out at the podium on national television.
  16. Nice. In other words, she asked for it?
  17. I don't disagree with that. Okay, are you now saying verbal harassment is okay if the person is inappropriately dressed? I suspect what JW is talking about is the non-quotable stuff, the on-background stuff that helps the reporter place things in proper context. None of that stuff is available at the podium or on live TV/radio (unless you're talking to Clinton Portis, that is).
  18. I agree. Banning media from the locker room is pretty much akin to blaming the media for the players' bad actions. Bottom line is the players are paid a lot of money, are public figures, and are required to be accessible to the media, as JW says. It's not a stretch to also demand that the players (and coaches) comport themselves with a modicum of dignity and respect when providing said access. And to those who are stuck on the way Ms. Sainz dressed, do you also argue that rape victims "deserve" it?
  19. Yale.
  20. This. And this. Also, let's not compare a night game to a regular Sunday 1 pm game. I understand the rules are a little different at night when people have been drinking for 12 hours.
  21. My worst experiences at the Ralph, and I have been going for over 30 years (including to a Browns-Bills game in 1980 when the rowdiness was actually much worse than it is now) have been with Canadians. Interestingly, this is not true at HSBC, even when the Loafs are in town. I wonder why that's the case. Discuss.
  22. When I was in the 18-34 age bracket, I didn't really care who stood up where, largely because (a) I could stand up for the whole game; (b) it wasn't a huge hardship on my dad, who was in his 50s and in good shape; and © I didn't have kids whose views were blocked by standers. At 41, honestly, (a) I don't feel like standing for three hours when I paid good money for a seat; (b) my dad is pushing 70 and definitely shouldn't have to stand up for three hours; and © my kids have a hard enough time seeing over people sitting in front of them without having to deal with standers. So I've seen both sides of it and I truly believe there is a middle ground. There's a time for standing. The whole game is not it.
  23. 1. The rules on standing are like the rules on obscenity: you know it when you see it. Opening kickoff, big third/fourth down plays on D, scores, great plays, etc. Other than that, people should just sit down, okay? No need to be an arsch to people behind you. 2. You hit it on the head. Go to a private lot. We have always gone to one on California Road and we can stay as late as we want. Plus if need be, we can get out a lot faster than people who've parked in the stadium lots. 3. If it's a new NFL rule, then it's a new NFL rule and the Bills can't do anything about it. My guess is that the league sees those walls as prime advertising space.
  24. You've never seen anything like that? Have you been sitting in the club seats all this time? Seriously, I've been going for more than 30 years and if anything it was WORSE back then. And it's still bad enough that I don't even consider taking my kids (who are 11 and 7). That's if I even go, which is less and less likely the older I get. It's just not worth it, especially with the crappy onfield product.
