  1. I still call it Pee Pee Park.
  2. Which would be appropriate, since Boss Hogg WAS from Buffalo!
  3. EVERYBODY has an accent. The reason Nix and Gailey's accents were worthy of comment is that they sounded so out of place, is all. Not stupid, just different. I can give you plenty of examples of accents that supposedly render people stupid: Noo Yawk, Bahstin, Fargo youbetcha, etc. etc. Yet Southerners think they're the only folks whose accent wrongly connotes stupidity and that they alone have the right to complain. You think people didn't laugh at the way Jim Valvano talked when he got to NC State? More importantly, you think he gave a crap? I mean seriously, people need to lighten up.
  4. No kidding. And until we start not serving people with Southern accents in restaurants, refusing to let Southern natives vote without taking literacy tests, and making the governor call out the National Guard to let kids with Southern accents attend school with our children, I really think this whole hullaballoo is a bit much. Accents are funny no matter where they come from. Hell, I make fun of my own WNY accent.
  5. Funny thing is, the people taking so much offense to the (mostly) good-natured ribbing about southern accents are probably the same people who made fun of Levy, Jauron, Fitzpatrick and Edwards being Ivy League/Stanford eggheads. Seriously. Lighten up, Francis.
  6. They need to play Dueling Banjos in the background during every Bills presser from now on
  7. Did he really say that LOL
  8. What did he say about Jerry? My feed was cutting out.
  9. Oh Buddy... step away from the podium, please...
  10. Love this: "Who WOULDN'T want to come here? Maybe some other guys had personal reasons or whatever. Ah'm glad. 'Cause AH get to be here." damn...scribo beat me. but I got the accent!
  11. That's why Fewell got the interim job and not April, too. Right? I don't know if he specifically turned us down or we just went with Greggggo. But I do recall his agent putting out some garbage about the Buffalo school system not being good enough for Lewis's kids...as if Lewis was going to live in the city.
  12. I know this has been addressed in other threads, but it keeps coming up: "Gailey had Aikman, Smith and Irvin blah blah blah." Let's look at the numbers, shall we? Emmitt was still pretty much Emmitt, except he was averaging 4 yards a carry instead of close to 5. But at quarterback, Jason Garrett played in eight games and started five in 1998, when the Cowboys went 10-6 under Gailey. Jay Novacek was already gone, as was Alvin Harper: the #2 receiver on that team was Billy Davis. Who? Exactly. In 1999, Garrett started two more games and finished two others as a 33-year-old Aikman struggled through a fog to an 81 passer rating. Michael Irvin played in four games before his career ended on the Vet's turf. The leading receiver for that team? A 30-year-old Raghib Ismail. The other receivers? Ernie Mills and Jason Tucker. Who? Exactly. Yet the Cowboys still made the playoffs as a wildcard.
  13. To add insult to injury...his last name was Kelly.
  14. They've even got a guy over there whose main crusade is that Lindy Ruff should be fired. Stop and think about that from the Bills' perspective for a minute.
  15. Yeah, Blake Williams played at Princeton. Of course, Bill Cowher had two daughters who played basketball at Princeton too
  16. Did Ralph go out and sign players? I seem to remember Brandon being pretty gd involved when the Bills went after TO.
  17. We should also consider that Reid may be saying McNabb is still the starter in order to drive up his price in a trade. If teams know Philly HAS to get rid of McNabb, they're not likely to offer as much.
  18. Thin is also '84 and '85 realizing that your coaches were Kay Stephenson and Hank Bullough...that your '83 first-round quarterback was playing in the USFL and had stated he had no intention of playing in Buffalo...that your '85 first-overall pick was fat and out of shape...and that you weren't even going to get the #1 pick in '86 despite finishing 2-14 for a second year in a row. Or living east of Rochester and being able to watch the Bills only in their away games because every home game was blacked out (except in '80-'81)...then being in college in New Jersey when they finally got good again, not even being able to listen on the radio much less follow them on the intarwebs; thank god they were on MNF and national Sunday games often enough back then.
  19. But read what I said: "in any season THAT BEGAN AFTER Mangini blew them in."
  20. You really have to wonder?
  21. Bingo. They have yet to win a playoff game in any season that began after Mangini blew them in.
  22. so this will be five years now since the Pats* won* their last tainted SB*? I'd say the dynasty* is dead.
