  1. He nailed it with respect to Gailey. I thought I knew how bad our offense was under Jauron. Turns out I really had no idea.
  2. This was about the dumbest article I have ever read. The point of comparison is "typical speeds on roads around the stadium" on non-game days. Well, duh. Of course traffic in Orchard Park will be markedly slower than normal on game days. At the Meadowlands traffic sucks ALL the time, not just on game days, so games don't affect their traffic as much. You park in the wrong place then. I could tell you where I park (and the shortcuts I take to get to and from the spot) but then I'd have to kill you.
  3. Trent proves doubters wrong Spiller takes it to the house Defense gets four picks. I once owned a shirt And it said "F*** Miami" I got to find that. Sully runs his mouth Knows nothing about football Go back to Boston. The News says it's dead In my house it's still alive This rivalry rocks. I know football's here When the haikus start flowing It's my time of year.
  4. Then we played them at our place and won 27-0. Headline in the next day's D&C: "Complete Dominance." I'm also partial to our first win in the Orange Bowl, in '83 when Fergy went for 419 and Danelo kicked the GW in overtime.
  5. We all know that for a significant portion of that time, their "sellouts" consisted of Giants fans who couldn't get season tickets to see their own team.
  6. 12-34-56-78-83-97
  7. This. Also, how good were Bell and Simpson at blocking, particularly recognizing and picking up blitzes? I ask because I don't know. But I do know that every year there are running backs who rip off huge gains in preseason and then get cut because they can't block or, worse, aren't smart enough to know how. Remember Anthony Gray?
  8. I understand that. We should be out there looking for interior depth, no question. In fact we should be looking for depth everywhere, except maybe the secondary and RB. But why would Jean-Gilles come here to be a backup? If we're looking for people who can start, I'd rather be looking for tackles. That's all.
  9. Our problem on the OL isn't the interior.
  10. Especially after reading the bio he wrote about himself. What a tool.
  11. I think Byron Leftwich will make a miraculous recovery from his "serious" knee injury now that Roethlisberger's suspension has been shortened.
  12. OK I just saw this... the calculation I used was the TOTAL number of games in a major league baseball season versus the TOTAL number of games in an NFL season. Remember there are 30 MLB teams and 32 NFL teams. MLB games: (162 * 30) / 2 = 2,430 NFL games: (16 * 32) / 2 = 256 2,430 / 256 = 9.49. Hence, my claim that MLB has "almost 10 times as many games" as the NFL. Of course, if you only watch one MLB team's games and one NFL team's games, then you are getting 10.13 times as many baseball games as football games. But IMO it would be pretty silly to pony up for an entire league's worth of games and then ONLY watch the ones involving your team...
  13. Simmons, like Rick Reilly, is one of those guys whose writing USED to be amusing. After awhile, though, you realize that they basically continually recycle the same half-dozen column ideas. Like how comic strips are funny for the first few years and stale thereafter. Or how most bands live off their first few albums for the next 30 years.
  14. This. Same thing over in the Harbor Club. I hope the Sabres' game threads never go away either.
  15. Bill Simmons thinks football was invented in 2001.
  16. Bob probably doesn't remember what he had for breakfast. Why drag football into this?
  17. Another issue with the chat room is that it's, if not impossible, at least harder to use with mobile phones. Please bring back the game thread -- it's how many of us follow the game when we're forced to be out and about. As others have said, it's also easier to go back in the thread and see what happened earlier (and what was said about it).
  18. And thus four of those thirteen wins were almost certainly against the Cardinals. But a 9-3 record against the Giants, Eagles and Redskins is nothing to sneeze at.
  19. It's going to be fun to step on Sully's fingers when he finally starts trying to climb aboard the wagon. I plan to wear clogs for that job.
  20. Now that's an inspired pick. One of the images burned into my brain from the Comeback is of Jeffires rotating his hips slowly with his back to the camera after scoring a touchdown to go up 28-3. Of course we all know what happened after that. But in truth, like just about everyone else here, I thought "Bryan Cox" before I even opened the thread. Tim McKyer was another one. And Marino too. I would say Brady as well but it's not a really SATISFYING hate unless you can beat the guy at will, like we could with Marino, McKyer and Cox. That was you?!
  21. Meanwhile, MLB.tv is 1/3 of the price (for almost 10 times as many games), and you can watch multiple games on multiple devices at the same location. On occasion I have had as many as five games going at once in my family room: TV, iMac, iPad, iTouch and laptop. The predatory pricing and the unnecessary restrictions on watching on multiple devices are a direct outgrowth of DirecTV's fear that they'll lose customers. For as much as the NFL props up DirecTV, you'd think they owned stock in the company.
  22. So in his nine years as GM he's had two losing seasons? Where do I sign up for that?
  23. That's the biggest thing where I'm concerned. They're pretty good about making sure people don't stop along 31F to drop off passengers and they're pretty good about making sure no non-VIP types get to park on campus (by the way, I live two blocks away, so I'm not carping, just saying), so why can't they control these morons?
  24. "It's hard to hear the fans in the NFL."
  25. They've had more time to practice than most. Okay that was too easy.
