Will Buffalo vs Miami be flexed to Sunday night??
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
To my knowledge, all slots have been kept open for flex scheduling. I know that last week some of the analytics had the Bills/Miami game as the one with the highest odds of both teams having something to play for. Now, we had so many upsets last week that it could easily change. If, for example, Miami wins against Baltimore but the Bills clinch a playoff spot do the Bills care about being the 6th or 7th seed? But if Week 18 is for the AFC East and the #2 seed, I cannot fathom what other game would take priority. Texans/Colts for the #4 seed? Of course, if the Bills have not clinched, maybe they put them in the Saturday night slot. -
Diggs/Cook first 1k WR/RB combo for Bills since 2012
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think I remember hearing that we hadn't had a 1000 rusher in a season since Shady in 2017. Josh has never had that any time in his career. I am hoping that is the difference maker now., -
Interesting. I don't think that it needs to be Cook's best day. I think this is an excellent week to just off one thing lacking from Brady's gameplan so far: the play action pass. It turns out that when you do the analytics, you don't actually need to run the ball a lot for PA to be effective. You just need enough of it for teams to *think* you're going to do it.

Stick with what has worked: use Cook to run the ball and trust that he's better on balance in spite of any mistakes. Let the run open the pass. Let Josh play off script.

The man has a hate-***** I cannot believe. I have to check it out.

I know the staggered weekend has thrown off the normal schedule routine, but I am a bit surprised at how little I am hearing about the Bills. I know that there were splashier results in more advertised games (Cowboys vs Dolphins, Ravens vs Niners) and a bigger upset (Chiefs loss) but very little about how the Bills clawed their way to the 6th seed with the potential to jump to #2.

New England is very much not rolling over and dying. If the Bills think they can sleepwalk through, they are in for a rude surprise. Let's tighten up and be firing on all cylinders for Week 18.

I am here for a bit of Kermit eating humble pie. I hate say "Josh would never..." because I would like to give Josh some slack if it ever happens. What I'll say is that if Diggs got caught on a hot mic like Mahomes has been he would be getting absolutely roasted by that national media. There would be a flurry of stories about how the Bills are doomed, about a toxic locker room, etc. The core (now aging) that Mahomes stepped in and had immediate success with had been division champions in 2016 and 2017 before Mahomes took the helm in 2018. Mahomes got to ride the pine for a year and learn from arguably the one coach whose success rivals Belicheck. (Bill has the championships with Brady and looked sup par without him, Reid has had success with various QBs and has a much better coaching family tree). He stepped into an ideal situation from his first start. If things stand, this is likely the first year he plays playoff game in a hostile stadium (or gets bounced in the wild card round). This really is the most adversity he's faced. And he's still going to waltz to a #3 seed.

The #2 seed is actually obtainable now

I mean... It's a game for the #1 seed for the AFC and each team's loss cracks the door for a hot division rival. That it wasn't put as SNL astounds me -

Statistically that is accurate. But the Ravens want the #1 seed. They are going to bring it no matter what, but I want them fully motivated next Sunday -

I'm hoping the Buccs show up and it's a bad day for the NFC South -
Good luck with your wife . To try to give you the big picture view: The Bills started eager to push the ball early and roll a lesser opponent but never got rythmn. Brady learned early and went back to pounding the rock, but after a three and out Hardy fumbled a punt return to set up an easy score. While the Bills had some groove come back in the 2nd half Allen had a bad pick and Cook fumbled which killed momentum. The Chargers, to their credit, came to play. But McDermott did a great job limiting our miscues to field goals. In crunch time Allen came up big again. Shakir caught a beauty throw to convert a 3rd down and ran it in but it got called back with a down by contact call. So the Bills bled the clock and kicked the field goal. I'm meh on Brady's gameplan, but it's hard to blame him for a punt return fumble and Cook getting the dropsies. I know it was with an inferior QB but the defense was pretty lights out considering the gifts the turnovers out them in a bad spot

I know a tie does nothing for us, but both squads are frauds. I just hope that Miami are tired frauds I look forward to both falling apart down the stretch -

The ugliest win is nicer than a strong moral victory. I got too many of the latter in the drought years -

I'll give it to the Chargers: they came to play. They had little to play for other than pride and they still brought it. But it's only close with 3 bad turnovers
