My junior year in high school, we lost to a team 56-7. The next season, coach put "56-7" on the board and got us pumped beyond belief in pregame. We went out and lost 32-0. It's all about improvement.
I'm not simply because they'll need a quarterback regardless after this season (when his contract is up). Even if they tanked the rest of this season, Fitzpatrick would be a good tutor to a young draft pick. Really, an extension is a no-brainer.
The Jauron extension was a debacle, but they aren't comparable.
Although we're only two weeks in, it's obvious this year's offense is much more dangerous in terms of imagination and ability to adjust than in 2008.
Even a loss this week --- assuming it's not a ridiculous drubbing --- won't kill my slight optimism, since I think the Jets and Dolphins can be had. I think this team could still scrape out seven or eight wins.
Ha. No, the teenage-girl-having-an-abortion-and-her-boyfriend-ditches-her angle is just a downer. But, that's life, so I guess if I find that depressing, I must be a real treat at parties.
"Fast Times at Ridgemont High." I'm not kidding. That movie depressing as hell. Always thought I was just weird until I met another person who felt the same way.
And "The Deer Hunter," of course.
