  1. Anyone who played sports well into high school or college knows that half a team normally hates the coach and the other half doesn’t. there are always the kids who really aren’t that good and are never going to play but think they should and they go around bad mouthing the coach. Then there are some that really enjoyed their experience and will go around telling other kids considering the school that the coach is really a great guy. I heard an interview of Luck saying how smart a coach Harbaugh is and how much he respects him. He is one of the latter guys no doubt. But this guy is a bar tender after going to SDS? He likely was one of the other guys. That’s a real half empty half full scenario, so I wouldn’t take it without a huge grain of salt. PS Luck wont be following him anywhere – he will get drafted and go wherever that is.
  2. YAC just like every other stat can be misleading (bc of screens etc.) But a pretty good indicator of great accuracy is a high YAC, actually a better one than completiong % IMO. Two passes are compoleted. 1 is behind the WR who has to slow down to catch the ball and tackled with nor YAC, the other hits teh WR in stride and the WR can run for a long gain. You get the picture.
  3. You aren’t getting my point. I am saying that I watched Harrell in college and I could see that he wasn’t going to get drafted or become anything in the NFL – and It didn’t require me to watch 4 full season of him starting to form my opinion. You watched Harrell and thought he was a legitimate QB prospect who was worthy of a higher round pick, despite having 4 full season to form your opinion. I watch Luck in college and can see why he is being touted as the #1 overall pick regardless of the numbers of games he has started. (I even pointed out a few specific examples as to why I thought so which debated other posters comments) You on the other hand cannot find anything about his game to knock him on, other than he hasn’t played in many games – A fact he has no control over and hasn’t stopped him from producing, not to mention he red shirted for a year. You act as if he cannot possibly be that good because he hasn’t played enough. Why don’t you try to watch a few games of Luck’s games and be a little more objective in your argument? If you do watch him and think he stinks, I guess that would partially explain why you think Harrell is so good, and why you’d want him over Sanchez – as you must not know what to look for in a QB. Harrel > Sanchez & Luck And my foots in my mouth? Hardly.
  4. Way to make my arguement for me. Harrel started 4 years in college and still couldnt get drafted or make an NFL roster as a rookie. There isnt some magical minimum threshold that is required to make a QB good. Would you rather have Harrell and his 4 years of starting experience or Sanchez and his year and a half? Its how the guy plays the game that made him good, and there is a reason Harrel cannot play in teh NFL. You cant seem to see either of those things.
  5. Way to be a total D Bag about it. Dont bother making intelligent posts just be a big internet tough guy. Maybe you are just mad that my post insulted your lover boy Graham Harrell? Has he been cut from that practice squad yet? At least he still isnt in Canada. Maybe you didnt see enough of his games to make an accurate assessment Besides, how many games do you want a normal fan to watch? I figure I have seen 10 of his games this year and last. Thats is a lot, maybe not for an NFL Gm, but for a dude who just likes to watch good football it sure is. In fact, its more games than I ever saw of Matt Ryan, and about as many games youve seen of Fitz, yet I bet you must be sold on him huh? Sanchez went top 5 after playing LESS than Luck has to date. Scouts saw enough of him, and I have seen enough of Luck. He is a two year starter and hasnt missed a game. Not every QB starts for 4 years. I bet Most QBs dont start 2 full years. But how many games does he have to dominate before I can say I really like him as a QB prospect? Seriously give me a # and I wont post about him until I watch enough games that satisfies you...
  6. If you really want to watch him yourself, go to espn3.com They have all the games there to watch going back a month or so. I have watched a lot of Luck, maybe more than anyone else who has posted in this thread so far dating back to last year. I love watching Stanford bc of Harbaughs style. A lot of his plays are designed short passes on bootlegs or roll outs or play action. Its not a check down when its the 1st read and the way the play is designed. Other than that he checks down when he should be checking down, but goes deep a lot - he threw a pick late to lose vrs Oregon by forcing down field into triple coverage - and pass he really shouldn't have thrown. He is not at all gun shy. Think about it, his WRs aren't exactly gonna get open vrs the athletes that the Oregon's and USC's have, so it makes sense that he has to check down often. He also has very good touch. I think its confused for lack of arm strength a lot. Not every ball is supposed to be shot like a cannon like Mallet does. But when he needs to rifle one in, he can. A 4 yard flat pass to the sideline vrs Arizona comes to mind. Throwing it about 35-40 yards from the wide hash to the sideline, it was a frozen rope and into a window the size of a basketball hoop. Also - who is hating on their competition? The Pac 10 is a very good conference to play against. And with their record (they only lost close the #1 Oregon BTW) they should play a Powerhouse in their bowl game, which will be a good test everyone can see. The thing that really sets him apart is the mental aspect which everyone seems to overlook. Harbaugh gives Luck a lot of responsibility- which is where the Peyton Manning comparisons come in. He reads defenses amazingly and gets them in the right play and protections. He processes everything quickly, which a lot of these college guys cant do. Most college QBS who people talk about but never get drafted high, they wait to see someone open and throw him the ball. NFL QBs who are still in college throw the ball bc they know the WR will be open and where he is going to be. Its that anticipation that Luck has that others dont. One pass he made into double coverage, cant remember which game, but he threw to the left of the defender when the WR was on the right witha a safety overtop. The WR cut to his left, got inside the defender, and the ball hit him right between the #s. If you saw Bradys 1st TD pass to Gronkowski last night - it was a lot like that. That Brady pass is one only the best NFL QBs can complete - so seeing Luck do it in college is a great indicator. His accuracy is the best in college football this year. I have watched a whole lot of Luck and he impressed me every time. He really reminds me of Matt Ryan when he was at BC. They do the same things with their over matched teams. FWIW I could just tell Matt Ryan was going to be great. I could just tell J Russell wasn't worth drafting. I can just tell Luck is going to be a top QB in this league. But dont take it from me if you dont want to, go to espn3.com and watch for your self. They have all the games there to watch going back a month or so.
  7. Wood and KW are still my 2 favorite players. It was KW then Wood once he was drafted. Not even close after that really.
  8. He is still not a great DE. I think he averages 3 sacks a season for his career. That horrible for a career DE. If we want to be a top team in the NFL he cannot be on the field much. PS Agree on Poz and Whitner. I think they both deserve new contracts. Whitner may be let go bc on the money he will want, which he wont be worth. But Poz we really should lock down. If they can resign Kelsay they can resign these two guys.
  9. It is very hard to evaluate the late round picks, especially when a few are out for the year before a singel game. But haveing a top 10 pick being a backup, our 3rd rounder not getting on the field at all, and troup barely playing and not playing too great - its gonna be impossible to have a good draft if those top 3 dont produce a lot more moving forward.
  10. While I agree hindsight is 20/20, sometimes foresight is too. It really infuriates me when things like this is brought up bc I know that I along with many others wanted Bulaga long before draft day. He was pretty obviously a great prospect and a great fit for Buffalo and what we needed. Now its all “O what could have been if only we had known” Well…. WE DID KNOW!!!! I blame the front office for not adding him like they should have, along with Orakpo/Ngata/Mangold – all of whom were not hindsight picks at all. All of them were pretty blatantly the correct most obvious choice that a vast majority of fans/writers/bloggers/ESPN analysts would have picked. The Veldheer guy is tough. I could not imagine trying to predict how a lower-level college player adjusts to the NFL. I really cannot blame them for missing on this guy the way I blame them for missing on the Orakpos and Ngatas and Mangolds. That said troupe was a reach on draft day and hasn’t really shown anything to make us think, in hindsight, that he wasn’t a reach. Looking like another fail by the scouts. Rd 3 I still think John Jerry is/was the right pick, both in hindsight and foresight. He was taken by the Fish immediately after us taking Carrington and has started every game he has been healthy for (apparently he has some mystery illness and he lost a lot of weight and strength). Bowman had some real character issues which is why he fell to the 3rd. Carrington tho cant even make the active roster for a team with the worst DL in the league. In hindsight John Jerry is still a good pick, so is Bowman – But that cant be said about Carrington. No surprise its looking like the scouts laid a huge egg again. I’ll give it another year before harping on it too much
  11. Nope, same team. We are watching the same game and see different things. My standards for accuracy are at the level needed for NFL success. Yours must not be. Agree to disagree I guess?
  12. Completion % doesnt = accuracy. You act like his accuracy is a fact? Im talking about ball placement. He IS INACCURATE, you will have to watch the games to see it. If you call his accuracy good, then rase your standards, because its not NFL good. A completed pass behind a WR is an interception in the NFL. He is just like scatter amrmed Fitz, even thowing bad INTs at the worst time.... because of his inaccuracy! Mallet is strong armed, thats his only great quality. His #s are inflated by the system, unless of coarse you htink Brohm is an aweome QB and Mallets back up is a 1st rounder too. Going on #s alone he looks great, but #s never tell the whole story. PS: CN Hasnt read defenses. So he will have to learn to. History ahs shown that running QBs rarely figure it out, so odds are agaisnt him. Please leave race out in the future.
  13. Consistently bad.... Wood with his Leg better will be good. Levitre is getting better. DBell isnt the best but with a good Rt we could get by. RT and C are needs.
  14. As bad as our DL is, Luck and a top T in Rd2 is my priority. We need to protect our new QB and I am not relying on Wrotto/Hoard/Green Love or Carimi WILL be there at 33. I like Carimi and his run blocking but he looks limtited athletically and gets his weight over his toes and gets off balence. Love I like a lot too. If you watch Ark close enough you would notice they use him as a swing T. When they run right, he plays RT, when they pass or run left, he plays LT. Not every single time but most of the time. That gets him experience all over and shows how dominant he is in teh SEC. I think he may be goen before 33 but if not I want him to be our RT in 2011. PS Bamas LT Carter is awesome. I would love to have him as our RG and move Wood to Center. He is a great pass blocking LT in college and a nasty rn blocker. Him at G could be a match amde in Heaven.
  15. We dont have to look too far past our own roster when thinking about how Mallet will adjust to the NFL. Brian Brohm is from the same system. He put up #s that were just as good if not better than Mallet. The system is an infamous 1 read system - which doesnt bode well for his NFL career. Brohm is now a relagated backup in the NFL. Mallets backup came in a lit it up. when Mallet went down. The system really helps the numbers. Ryan Fitzpattrick. Why are we still talking about replacing him? Because he is too inaccurate. 5-8 inaccurate passes a game are why he is a journeyman/backup and not a full time starter and going to probowls. So now we are going to draft Mallet? A guy who is just as inaccurate if not more inaccurate the Fitz? Why would we do that? Doesnt make sense..... Its Luck or no one. Luck is the only guy who is going to turn into a legit starter. Andrew Luck will fit in both of those. PS I think Physically Newton is alright. But its the mental stuff he will struggle with. Reading the D, anticipating routes, thats the tough stuff. Thats why Peyton and brees are so good, not their arms or size. Rivers throws like a horse but is accurate and intelligent. Luck is that, Newton will have to learn that. He could, but likely wont.
  16. I saw him a few weeks ago for the first time buring our bye week. I was unimpressed. FWIW the announcers did comment that they met and talked with the Bills scouts who were in town to scout the guy. They said the Bills had him graded out as a RT. So I doubt we see him in the top 5. - From everyone I have seen I dont see a top flight LT. Sherrod is a RT, Carimi is a RT too, Love same thing, that kid from Colorado wasnt very good at all. I havent seen much of Costanza from BC, he is the only one I havent watched a lot, but he was getting owned vrs NCs Quinn. Quinn is a top prospect, but Id like a top LT prospect to block EVERYONE he faces in college handidly. This is the year to add a top RT in the 2nd or 3rd, not at LT in Rd1
  17. From my experience with football and concusions, a soft exterior shell is the way to go. You need to have somethign give to the impact isnt so sudden and this is the only way to do it.
  18. No... couldn't be Maybe he was over valued by the scouting staff? - I will never get why year after year so many fans think we had some great draft. We are routinely taking bad players and fans convince themselves they are good. If history teaches us anythign its be very very skeptical of who the Bills draft, they have dropped the ball for over ten years! - And that "they need time to improve" argue ment is all hogwash. If Carrington cannot make the active roster on a team with a DL THIS EPICALLY BAD, he never will be a contributer. He cant even beat out McCargo for 2nd to last on the depth chart. I have no hope for him. "but, but, but, he is young! He needs to play! Wah!" Yea well he is young but he sucks. He sucks so bad he doesnt deserve playing time, the the decision the coaches are making.
  19. sorry but I think your rankings are based too much on the last 2-3 games and not on an overall body of work. I also think there are some people high on your list that wont even be drafted, they just arent NFL caliber QBs
  20. Goodell could not be more disconnected from the NFL fanbase. Fans DONT WANT big new stadiums because it means they can no longer afford the seats, which means their teams arent gonna be on TV, which means the NFL loses money. Same kinda disconnect we see with the people running this country....
  21. Did you steal my post from draft day?
  22. I had this same idea a few months back. The problem I had was paying off the loans. I figured the Bilsl will sell for 650ish Million. Paying off that amount the same way a mortgagee is amortized, you would need 2% or less interest at around 35+ years to remain profitable (assuming the Bills retain their currently profitability, a reported 34 Mil/yr last I heard) Whether you could fund the entire team or a fraction, that will remain the same as you will only get a fraction of the profitability. I didnt read your entire site, but the one thing you need to have in there is a type of deed restriction on your bonds, and with that it would increase your chances of success. Offer a 40 or 50 year term in essence a lifetime term. In each bond you sell, you need to have a restriction stating the Bills cannot be moved. Essentially guaranteeing the Bills remain in Blo for the bond owners lifetime. I put together a huge spreadsheet on this same stuff and would be glad to help you if youd like. I have always thought this may be the key to keeping the team here. I have connections with a big time Lawyer who just handled the sale of the Rangers- he may be able to handle all this for a % of the team as his fee, depending on how likely it seems. I would want to be part of the ownership group though, with a big say in who the F we draft EDIT: I just read your other posts. You want to loan to the Millionaire…. I think you personally should make up part of the ownership group with your % of the franchise being paid for by the bonds, don’t loan them to someone else!
  23. Well then stop trying to convince me Fitz is a superstar QB when in reality he is average.
  24. he really means rocket appliances.
  25. A big part of that is because we take guys like spiller instead of good OLman. Bulaga, Iupati, and Pouncy are all players who could have helped us a whole heck of a lot. Bulaga IMO was worth 9 and after seeing him in the NFL I still believe he was worth 9. The other two guys looked like great players on draft day but bc of position were a stretch at 9. We may have been able to trade down, but Nix turned in the card before they finished saying "McClain" - so how would he know what was available? If we ever want to win we cannot continue to blindly select RBs and DBs and WRs.
