  1. Not having your best lineman (Schobel) and your best linebacker (Crowell) the entire season has nothing to do with this?? Ellison and Denney are bad 2nd string guys and we've had to play them all year. Talent is key on defense. I argue that our two most talented defensive players were out all year. Everyone forgets how well Crowell performed in 2007. Pray these two guys are back at near full strength for next year and they stay on the field. Schobel will be ready to roll and probably a little heavier (good) and hopefully the Bills get their head out of the ground on Crowell and sign him and not let him walk...
  2. Until ownership changes, the Bills will remain pretty much what they are now. Cannon fodder for the top 10-12 teams in the league. A farm team. AAA. Good place to enter the league, build your skills, make some $$, then get the hell out via free agency when your contract is up. That's what the Bills in Buffalo are. None of the better candidates wants to live in f ing buffalo. Who wants to go a league meeting and have every conversation start with "how's the snow in Buffalo"... ? In today's rock star NFL, this organization will be mediocre until it is sold and moved to a place where top coaches, GMs and players actually want to be.
  3. Kelly Holcombe in his prime on a good team would get you at least into the playoffs... The Kelly Holcombe we saw played for the Bills, remember??
  4. Whitner will not fetch a #1. Trades rarely happen in this league anymore, this is not fantasy football. Teams wait for contracts to expire and sign guys as free agents. We need Defensive Ends and Offensive Line players. If we draft a tight end #1 I will shoot myself. Probably trade down to #20 to get another #2 or #3 pick , take Mack #1 and a D End no. 2.. thats what we need to do. Unless can get a D end in free agency.
  5. they should try and sign him, and make a good effort, corners aren't the key element of the tampa 2 defense, fast attacking lineman are, so lets keep our Greer $$ and spend it on a a free agent Defensive End to go with Schobel. And draft a defensive end, unless they are in love with Ellis, whom we've seen nothing of as yet.. and draft O linemen,... and do not draft a tight end..
  6. not sure it matters. assuming the CBA is not done for 2010, we will have an uncapped year in 2010 and Peters, Edwards, and anyone else unsigned in the next 12 months will wait for that and leave via free agency. our priority is to get those guys signed so they don't bolt after their contracts are up... no one is talking about this but they should be... 2009 may be the last season of business as usual in the NFL. Merry Christmas to all...
  7. Sunday's game with the Pats will be very revealing. If the Bills lay down and die, you can bet there are a lot of uhauls packed to the gills in the parking lot with the engines running. I doubt many of the Bills are too happy being in WNY in in late December, unless they have some ties to the area or are farm boys from Indiana. Oh boy, 10 degrees and a foot of snow and far away from where I'm from... just where I want to be the week between Christmas and New Years with a meaningless game upcoming... this game will be very revealing as to how many uhauls are in the parking lot...
  8. You guys dont want a coach, you want a cheerleader. Jauron is probably very good between games, he doesnt scream and jump up and down as much as you guys want on Sunday, thats your problem with him. He isn't pretty and he doesnt get all fired up on the sidelines. We have no idea what kind of coach he is.. all you see of him is on the sidelines on Sunday.. thats no way to judge a coach. If the players say he is great, who are we to judge,, they see him in action a ten times more than we do...
  9. no one will offer real value as they can just wait for the holdout and get him cheaply.. just hurts everyone if this goes down in June where we get a crappy draft pick for a top 10 tackle... and if we sign him , he;s missed all the OTAs again, etc. the team promised to work with him and they haven;t .. its the teams move now... just sign him...
  10. they'll probably end up letting Greer go, but will bite the bullet with Crowell and Peters, two guys that are not company guys but are irreplacable if the franchise wants to be better in 2009
  11. I'm not a fan, but at least Jerry Jones is trying to compete for the title. Ralph continues to "build through the draft", spend way below the salary cap and hire 2nd tier and newbie coaches. Who cares if the Bills stay in Buffalo if they are consistent losers?
  12. no comparison between below freezing weather in Denver and below freezing weather in Buffalo. none whatsoever. you can play golf in 30 degrees in Denver if the sun is shining. great place.
  13. If you were a gifted radio personality with a real future in the business, would you choose to work in Buffalo? Enough said.
  14. I was impressed. Very impressed. The best offense in the league and an away game. And down 13-0. Two weeks in a row, they did not crumble on the road in very hostile stadiums. They rallied both times. If TE has the ball in NY, they win that game too. Hmm.... TE played well in 11 degrees... hmm... Broncos had all the incentive, Bills none... Jauron had them ready. The coaches had them ready. They did not run for the bus. They were fired up. Steve Johnson and Corner and McKelvin played huge. Hmmm... If they do it again against the Pats, win or lose, no way we can be thinking blow up the coaching staff. Can't do it.

  16. This team, unless it is very very healthy, will be at the top of the "losers bracket" for some time to come. The losers bracket in NFL terms is basically the bottom 15 teams in the league, teams that just miss the playoffs all the way down to the 2-14 types. They are competitive against each other, but usually get killed by the top 12-15 teams and are not part of this group, the group that gets to actually play for the championship (the "winners bracket").. anyone who has played tournament sports in a double elimination format knows what I mean by the winners and losers brackets. I don't see that changing until ownership changes and a real commitment to kind of coaches/players needed to compete for the title arrives. This team has no depth at any position and only teams with top talent at quarterback and coaching staff continue to win when major injuries to starters occur. The Bills has demonstrated for years they cannot compete with more than a couple key starters out. Teams in the winners bracket can. Sad, but very true I am afraid..
  17. The Bills, as currently owned, organized and located, have no shot at ever going back to the Super Bowl in any year. The best coaches/players have better living options than Buffalo at the same or usually better $$ and the ownership situation is too unpredictable for the best GMs/Coaches to take a chance on ralph dying next week. So your left with mostly 2nd tier coaching and talent and are doomed to the bottom half of the league indefinately. The Jim McNallys of the world are very rare (ie top tier coaches who actually WANT to be in buffalo) . Pretty simple stuff. Where would you rather be in today's rock star NFL? Dallas, Miami, Charlotte, Jax, L.A. or freeze-your-butt-off buffalo? Geez...
  18. good left tackles don't grow on trees. I say pay him now before his value goes up any more. make as much of the $$ contingent on performance, whatever. I'm tired of seeing winfield and williams in the pro bowl when cheapo ralph could have easily kept both of them. I am sick of losing. Keep your best players. Spend right up to the cap, Ralph, you cheap SOB. And suck it up and pay Crowell too. No more waiting for draft choices to mature. We have enough of those. Lets win some games.
  19. From a personnel standpoint, we are pretty much stuck with the 4-3 scheme. Would take new coaches and a half dozen new players to switch.... Bills have been reasonalbly good on D and on special teams this year.. its the offense that has been terrible in the 2nd half of the season.....
  20. Russ Grimm... hmm .. good idea.. i like it. good fit, run the ball, run the ball and run it some more... Also, Jack Del Rio if Jax cans him...

  22. bills need to suck it up and sign Crowell. let bygones be bygones. no way we are drafting yet another LB in the first or second round. we have a lot more iimportant needs on the o and d lines
  23. I apologized to my teenagers, who i have turned into bills fans over the years . i told them to find another team to root for before they go too far with this brain dead organization. sad.
  24. anyone remember Vince Ferragamo? bringing in old, washed up guys is not the answer. Hasselbeck has taken too many hits and would take a ton more here. and would be extremely expensive. having said all that, lets do it.
