You get a phone today, Ralph has hired you as the Bills new GM
VJ91 replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is that how Ralph gets GM's to work for them....he offers them a phone? With my official Buffalo Bills GM phone, I would call the Jags and make the trade for Henderson today. In my second call or round of calls, I would find a veteran strong side backer to at the very lest compete for and add depth to that sorry position. Finally, I would call every coach and player on the team, and tell them to have fun and relax during their little summer vacation, because if they don't at least tie for the last playoff spot in the AFC and lose in a tie-breaker this season, the entire team will be nuked and we will start from scratch in 2010. -
Yes, no, maybe. Every coach needs talent to lead a team into the Super Bowl. Belicheck had won nothing, when Tom Brady replaced the injured Drew Bledsoe after a mediocre 2-2-0 start to the Pats first SB winning season, in 2001. 3 Super Bowl wins later, all with Brady under center, Belicheck is the genius, the standard in the NFL. DJ seems lost on the sidelines, and incapable of showing emotions. Even Marv screamed at the refs every game. However, if this team learned from their fast start and faster fall from last year, and T.O., Maybin and the road grader kids on the O-Line make an impact, the Bills could make a run. Look at the Dolphins from last season!

Outstanding post!

What exactly do you want Russ to git done? Vick is still wearing an ankle cuff and is confined to his home until mid July sometime. He is still serving his prison sentence, and not even out on freakin' probation yet! WTF is the NFL coming to anway? Vick is a convicted felon, ladies and gentlemen. Don't give me the crap that he has served his "debt" to society, and deserves the chance to continue earning a living. Screw that. It is a privalege to play in the National Football League, not a right! Vick served his sentence? Wonderful, good for him. Now let him go out and find a real job to spend the rest of his life working at. If Goodell can't even "just say no" to convicted felons who serve time in jail, then he and the entire NFL is nothing but a hypocritical joke. Come on. Draw the line when the dumbasses get so caught red handed that even their money and lawyers can't keep them out of prison.

Oviously, Crowell's injury has ended up being much worse then the Bills or perhaps even he thought it was when he decided to have a procedure done to it the week leading up to first game of the season last year. He's still in his prime. He can afford to miss some more time this season and get the thing taken care of completely. In the entire big picture, I still blame him more then the Bills for his strange decision to shut it down the week going into the regular season. It just shows you how bad the Bills were at OLB last year, when nobody else could beat out Crowell playing on one good leg the entire training camp!

Interesting situation in St. Louis with Rams
VJ91 replied to SF Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Excellent point! Taking the Los Angeles market out of the equation gives the "Jim Kelly" group (if it exists) a much better chance of out-bidding other out of town groups when Ralph passes on to the "Rockpile" in the sky. -
Sure, it's relevant, because most of us on this board are real estate sales people or investors, and we always check TBD first when we are looking for 15 Million dollar properties to sell, list or buy. I don't know if your ego would set off my alarm system from 300 yards, but excuse me for laughing when you or others post "facts" about yourselves on these public message boards where none of us know you, or have any way of knowing what you say is true or not. That's nice that you shook Don Beebe's hand, by the way.

Interesting situation in St. Louis with Rams
VJ91 replied to SF Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gee, if they ended up in Los Angeles, they could be called the.........Los Angeles Rams. How original. What if you grew up a die hard L.A. Rams fan? The franchise leaves for St. Louis without a SB victory, stays there for about 15 years and wins a SB, then become one of the worst teams in the NFL and go back to Los Angeles. Now that is classic. -
Time To Choose Sides felt compelled to "vouch for them" during his self serving post bragging about being in Marino's house and using all 13 bathrooms while he was there.
-
Really? No kidding. One seasoned veteran with Pro Bowl talent left in him, one young starting QB & one young wide receiver who seems to have unlimited potential, for a former Pro Bowl linebacker slowed by serious injury, a talented running back with a bad attitude and questionable work ethic, and a washed up career back up QB since retired? Not bad inner circle jerks! That kind of return is more Polian-esque then I would ever expect.
-
Touching story. But those fans didn't stop him from coming over to the Bills in the first place did they? Tom Donahoe was an idiot for not giving Dick a huge raise and making him assistant head coach in charge of defense when he fired Williams.....and he should have done it before Dick went to that baseball game in Pittsburgh.
-
....and, didn't he run for over 90 yards in that SB win with the Pats? I could be wrong, but I think he had a nice solid game.

1. Yes, most likely very good by his third season. Rookie year this season? Who knows. Ryan & Flacco did great last season, maybe Sanchez will duplicate their success, maybe not. 2. I think the Jets were smart to draft the kid. Unfortunately, they were forced to over-pay under the current idiotic system of rookie pay scales. 3. Yes, of course he should start from day one. 4. The Jets should be worse then the Bills this year, unless Ryans' defense is fantastic and Sanchez has a fantastic rookie season. Or, unless the Bills fall apart and crash for the 4th consecutive season under the "calm leadership" of DJ. No chance of that happening again, is there?

You'll "vouch" for the neighbors? Awesome. I was really concerned about the neighborhood and I was hoping someone on this board would "vouch" for the neighbors and the "nice little developement." I'll call Dan right now and close the deal with him. Of course, I was hoping for 15 bathrooms, but I am getting a signed football as a bonus.

5 preseason games for Bills this year-
VJ91 replied to toddgurley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Preseason games are useless. Five is beyond stupid. It might benefit the Bills with so many new players starting and making contributions off the bench, but I am of the belief that NFL teams should play zero preseason games. Start training camp a month later and after the final cuts, start the regular season. The first month of the season may be a little sloppy, but at least the players can get an extra month off to rest up their bodies, the fans won't have to waster their hard earned money on meaningless exhibition games, and there will of course be less injuries during the training camp / preseason game time. -
Why, does Ralph need a date too?

I prefer a conventional offense that moves the ball down the field and eats up some clock. Let's see, I think that just described every offense that has ever won the Super Bowl. Certainly it described the offenses of the New York Giants, Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys (twice in a row), that beat the Bills in their 4 Super Bowl games. But forget ancient history. Let's talk about the modern game today. No team uses the lightning fast no-huddle offense as it's main scheme. Peyton Manning goes no huddle most of the time, but he stands up at the line of scrimmage and uses up almost the entire play clock while making adjustments and calling out audibles. That's it folks. Nobody else uses it more then as a change-up look every now and then. Perhaps a couple of series per game. And of those other 31 teams that don't use the no-huddle, one won last years' SB, and 11 others made the playoffs, while the Bills did not. What makes you think that running the no-huddle full time is the only way the Bills can improve beyond those putrid numbers you pointed out?????
-
I don't believe any team in the NFL has "the right coaching staff and players to run it" as a full time offense. It's a terrific change of pace scheme to throw off a defense, and of course, every team needs a proficient hurry up offense at the end of the first half and end of games. But as a main or full time offense, it puts way too much pressure on the defense. Quick 3 and outs will exhaust a defense and allow the other team's conventional offense to put together long time consuming drives. I suppose if Edwards is smart enough and can get rid of the ball quickly, the Bills have some nice weapons to succeed in the hurry up offense. But can Hangartner call out the defenses as fast as Kent Hull did for Jimbo? And can this ever changing O-Line handle the pressures of full time no-huddle? And of course I don't believe Jauron and Schoenert are the right coaches. I don't see a back like Thurman Thomas who can catch the ball and make tacklers miss on quick hitters like he did. Thomas once led the entire NFL in total yards from scrimmage for 4 consecutive years. He is a Hall of Fame running back. Where is our Thurman Thomas of today? And please don't get me started on this defense being able to play 30-40 minutes a game and still make as many plays as the K-Gun D made back in the day. Bottom line, no way should the Bills be exploring the ho-huddle.
-
I don't need a wilkepedia article about the hurry up. I watched it live for about 8 years be run better then any coach or QB could ever hope to use it, and it produced an 0-4 SB record at its very best. Screw the full time no-huddle, hurry up or 2 minute offense. It sucks and it tires out the defense even when it scores a lighting fast TD.

Did you read the scouting report from Scott Wright? He says Byrd is physical and aggressive, a reliable tackler & does a great job in run support, as his positives. Then he turns around and says Byrd is not a big hitter, and has trouble getting off blocks, as his negatives. WTF kind of contradictory scouting report is that? :blink After reading that crap, I am not convinced Mr. Wright is accurate with his 4.68 40 time either.
-
And you are telling us this why? Because the Bills should have drafted him instead of Byrd right? Well, you may be right about that, because I thought the Bills might have done just that. However, Jeff Otah is only in his second year, and these are just OTA's we are reading about. Like I have said a couple of times out here, watch for Maybin to get about 7 sacks as a pass rusher this season. When he does that, I won't care about the other DE's the Bills could have drafted but didn't.

Why is Levitre starting with 1st team
VJ91 replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they are both going to be special players for years to come. It doesn't matter which kid might be picking things up faster, or the player they are competing with at their respective guard positions might be worse then the other. I just hope that Brandon gets all the rookies signed up before the first meeting of training camp, as the team gets ready to break until then. Especially with all of this stupid no huddle crap we are hearing about. Every offensive and defensive rookie will be vital and needed this season if they really do run it full time, or even half the time. -
So did James Hardy's nice catch in the corner of the end zone to beat Jacksonville early in the season last year. Too bad James was too stupid to be able to memorize his 2000 page playbook. It seems to me he might have made a few more of those TD catches in the red zone if he wasn't buried on Turk-ey's bench until he got injured.
-
As long as he continues to memorize his playbook and never makes one single mistake, he will continue to get reps and chances. Let's remember, he's running the Turk-ey Shoenert offense here. After the untouchable Evans and Owens, even Josh Reed had better do everything right or they will see the bench.
