  1. It think this line of argument has two main points: 1. Ralph is perpetually behind the price/performance curve. When he is ready to spend $1M on a coach - the market is $3M. When he is ready to spend $2M - the market is $6M. Many people are like this. 2. Ralph may just look at the statistics and think that the risk/reward for trying to win a championship is too great. And he may be right. 32 teams - 1 winner. Much easier to try and be a 0.500 team then to chase marginal wins with ever greater resources - only to be home on SB Sunday with 30 other teams.
  2. That reminds me of an early 90's comedy bit by the "Punk Comedian" or whatever his name was... "This one is for the stupid people out there! You know who you are! [pause] or maybe you don't know who you are?!"
  3. I assume your situation is much different than Jauron's. He is older and has already made millions. And it isn't just email. This guy is going to get blasted unmercifully on radio, TV, in public, and on the net until the day he leaves. He is also going to get booed unmercifully every time his name is mentioned in that stadium. I'm sorry, but I guarantee you I have enough dignity not to stand in front of 50, 60, 70k people week in and week out and listen to an entire region of the country voice their hatred of me.
  4. I don't think that could possibly have been a pre-determined strategy. If he really wanted him out, he would have pulled the same old "fire your assistants" move (or some other move that he knows he wouldn't do) and then make him resign. However, I do think the scenario is plausible, as I alluded to in my suggestion for a billboard. Unlike Mike Mularkey, I think Jauron could be shamed into leaving, thus my suggestion of "Dick Jauron, Why would you stay where you are not wanted?". If I could have one day in the press room to ask questions - I'm quite sure Jauron would either resign or surrender any shred of self-respect.
  5. Nah, I think the billboard would have more effect. It would need to say something like: "Mr. Jauron - Why would you stay where you are not wanted?" or something that appeals to the man's dignity.
  6. Spare me. I was a "wild card" for Time's POTY too. In early Dec, 2007 we were 6-6. I'm sure the ground swell of support for him was enormous. The only selective thing here is pointing out the brief times in Jauron's career where he may have enjoyed a modicum of support.
  7. If you don't know Steve, then you should pass on making judgments regarding his posts.
  8. This sentiment was shared all over BearsNation... It is baffling that Marv Levy stared at this man week in and week out and could not see what every other knucklehead (your friend excluded, of course ) with a brat in his mouth could see...
  9. I'm going to randomly ban 10 posters...
  10. Nah, if I had any real info I would share it under my handle.

  12. why is this the case?
  13. Assuming Brandon isn't a drooling, window-licking idiot - I would venture to say "suicide" came out of his mouth at least a dozen times during that meeting.
  14. I wonder if anything could be pulled out of the quote you bolded. Is he really saying that everyone else thought he should go and he was the lone person who thought he should stay?
  15. I support you spending $100 on that billboard.
  16. As an FYI, this isn't his original account and there is no way to tell who this knucklehead is. My guess is that it is someone else pulling people's chains...
  17. Ok, just to clarify - you called the OP an idiot and then you follow up this claim by making the comparison between Levy - who was hired and chartered with the responsibility of firing/hiring the coaching staff and Kelly - who has never been hired as a talent evaluator, has no responsibility to anyone, has no hiring authority, and basically gave his inconsequential opinion like everyone else on this board? Right... gotcha. The OP is a real idiot.
  18. He has PLENTY of cowbell...
  19. Marv Levy, the doddering old fool, pulled a Homer Simpson on us. Unable to come up with anything different - he could only come up with the one name that was standing in front of him while broadcasting in Chicago. He searched near and far and just happened to come up the old man 30 yards away from him - what are the chances?
  20. that week gets dropped...
  21. Actually, this ranks up there as one of the worst straw man arguments I've read on TSW. And I've read some real doozies. The point is clear - Dick Jauron has not been a part of successful organizations throughout his NFL career as a coach nor as a player. Whether that is meaningful or not is up for debate. No where did I read the OP pinning "their entire success or failure on one DB". Shooting down a ridiculous argument that no one made isn't terribly compelling.
  22. Pick Em pool: Well, I went wire to wire on the pick-em contest - only to get caught at the last wire on a photo finish. I was inspired by our head coach and tried to run out the clock, but alas playing not to lose cost me big time last week. mile_high edges out SDS in the tie-breaker using the MNF point differential average 13.24 to 14.29. We had identical records for the season, but mile_high played to win and closed the gap the last few weeks, including edging me by a game in the last week to force the tie-breaker... Survivor pool: Four players guessed right for 17 straight weeks! The four way tie was broken by continuously adding up the win differential every week for our picks. ExWNYer beat out Special_K by 1 stinking point over 17 weeks! I came in a distant 3rd... 1. ExWNYer 2. Special_K 3. SDS 4. whak Congrats everyone!
