Horrible End

Recommended Posts

After day 1 I was starting to get my hopes up. . . but with Dick still here, I should have known better. After 3 corners drafted last year, including rds 1 and 4, I thought there was no way we'd spend many picks on DBs this year. I guess Dick showed me!

Also, I've read several profiles on Maybin. They all say that he is not an every down DE. They talk about a switch to OLB or a pass-rushing specialist that only has one speed move and not much else. I'm on record as saying I'm officially nervous about him over Orakpo. Especially since they're talking about Kelsay still playing most downs ;)

My favorite pick of this draft is Nelson, hands down. He appears to be a Tony Scheffler-type 4th rd TE.

are you really complaining about 6th and 7th round DBs?

i didnt like the Maybin pick at all, he will never be an every down player in the NFL unless he is moved to LB and you need more then that from the 11th pick in the draft...he should help the pass rush though and I guess thats what matters...I would have taken Oher or Ayers at 11

Yes, I am complaining. Just the fact that they didn't take these "flyers" (6th & 7th rd picks) on different positions makes no sense. They could have used more depth along both lines, and the LB core.

The late-round picks make no sense, but at the very least, they don't really cost us anything. But otherwise, it was a very solid draft, and one way or another, we drafted three linemen in the first two rounds.

But, if Maybin doesn't produce, we didn't improve our front 7. They should have addressed it more, is the underlying theme on this board today.

Well, there is Nic Harris at OLB, but yeah, I do agree. If we were going to take a flyer on a late-round pick with special teams potential, why not grab some more linebackers? At least we have UDFA to look forward to to fill some spots.

Many scouts said the same thing regarding Orakpo, except that he can be lazy at times and they questioned his desire, something which noone said about Maybin...

As for the DB thing, Nic Harris is going to be playing OLB with the Bills...

Ayers was the pick, the Bills are stuck (and hoepfully not with another "Flowers").

Jeez, Ayers was a the guy....he must have pissed someone off at One Bills Drive......

Curious, who's talking about Kelsey still playing most downs? Especially since it's been widely speculated that he was on the trading block? Huh?

Unless he's injured, Bledsoe, he will produce; and that's a given. He won't play JUST 3rd downs, he'll play ALL passing situations and little by little more of the other downs, too.

He will produce? There are no absolute givens when it comes to the draft and production.

I think Bills fans will see some changes after camp ends in August. There's no guarantee that Kelsay and a few other underachievers will remain for the regular season.

I'm not a fan of taking so many DB's, but it's not worth it to get angry over 5th-7th round picks. The odds are against them making an impact. I will say that having options in the secondary with so many players nearing the final year of their deals is important.

Who gives a sh--? CBs and WRs produce on special teams, there is no sense in taking a 300 lb lineman that won't make the team and can't produce on ST. Besides, if you wanted a LB there are better ones in FA than were there in the 6th and 7th rounds.
