ROUND 7: (Speculation)

Recommended Posts

No, Cary Harris is not the end of the world, but that area I highlighted might well be the end of the Bills season if they don't find a way to add some depth.

At this point, what defensive tackle has gone will be more of a "magic bullet" than McCargo living up to potential or the linebackers adding a rush threat? Anyone else left is undersized, which would instantly be reviled too.

There is another round and a slew of UDFAs to bring in.

No TE, no QB, James Davis went off the board. I think it'll be Cadogan if he's available or Murtha. I think when Irvin went off the board, so did our thought of taking a DT. Nic Harris all but eliminates another selection at LB. I think the only other route may be a FB like Southerland if he's still on the board.

You can make basically the same type of argument against Harris beating out any of these CBs. The point is, if the Bills are going to make an attempt at building depth somewhere, its probably more likely that a DT pick here late is going to stick than a CB will simply because of the numbers. That's especially true given the fact that the Bills were so happy with McCargo that they tried to unload him last year.

At this point, even a camp fodder pick at DT is probably worth more to them than a 6th CB on the roster. They don't even have enough DTs to go into training camp with at the moment. They could use at least two or three more or else the guys they do have are going to start breaking down. Maybe they can sign a few after the draft, but maybe not.

Actually, of the dbs, 3 have been known to get knicked and if he can continue to show the ability to tackle and jump routes, he can continue to push Youboty (who is in contract year), Florence and Corner. Competition is never bad. Granted it'd be good to have that in DT as well, but when you add in Denney as a swing DE/DT and the amount of "Creep" we'll be able to use with a guy like Maybin, we have a solid rotation. And Irwin went off the board, most likely killing our desire to take a DT.
