Peters already has a bonus clause in his contract??

As reported on WGR, apparently Peters has a clause in his contract that gives him a 1.25 or 1/75 million dollar bonus if he plays half of his snaps at Left Tackle in any given season. So not only would he be getting his 3 or 4 million base salary this season, he would also be getting another fairly large bonus that was built into the contract to "protect him" if he was playing left tackle instead of right tackle.

This holdout makes even less sense now...

The agent sees about $20 million or more in guaranteed money that isn't in the current deal. He's apparently convinced his client that not playing is the best way to achieve that in the short run.

It's interesting to see the start of the media shift and more balanced reporting from some outlets now. Gotta hope that continues because this is ridiculous.

Problem is, that means absolutely nothing in term of putting $$$$$ in Eugene Parker's pocket. Scumbag just scored big with Steven Jackson. Scumbag just got new shoes, now he needs new socks. If it means Peters gets screwed, well, bend over, Jason....

He's also sure that his cut of Peters' money is much smaller if he can't figure out how to get him another singing bonus. Agents get their 3% off the top of bonus moneyin addition to anything else they get from the base salary, hence their consant motivation to renegotiate. Since the news regarding Peters' additional LT bonus has come out this looks even worse because that bonus was definetly going to be paid. Thus the Schefterized salary of 3.something million is a crock of poo. It's really over 5 million per and while that is less than his counterparts it is much closer to the ballpark.

Jason, if you're reading this, Eugene Parker won't pay your fines your reimburse you for money lost by holding out. The person who has the most to gain is Eugene Parker and the person who hs the most to lose in terms of money, credibility and longer term earning prospects is you. If you hold out this year you've given away a year of salary, and a year of your career earning potential for nothing. The Bills will not budge and quite frnakly I think they'd let you sit on principle at this point. Ask yourself. Is it better to play this year and, make 5.something million dollars while working out a new big payday to begin next year and make another pro-bowl to add to your bargaining power or to sit, not get paid anything, and not even be any closer to being a FA, while looking like a complete a-hole in the process?

We know what you want Jason, you want to do what Brain Westbrook did with the Eagles and have the Bills pay you the max raise possible under the CBA and still have your contract end in time for the anticipated uncapped year so you can really cash in for your last deal. That might happen, but you hafta throw us a bone and show up for work. Hell, we're not even sure if you're healthy or weigh 600lbs. What reasonable person would hand tens of millions of dollars to a person whom they haven't even seen in several months? C'Mon, seriously Jason. The BIlls will do right by you,a s they have done right by you in the past and have done right by other players by either paying them or letting them walk. The Bills could have franchised Nate Clements but they promised not to and they ddin't. He was able to walk and get his money. The Bills renegotiated your deal and paid you a bunch of money when you had done slihtly more than jack squat which was a pretty big risk. Sure, we saw your talent, but talent and a quarter makes you a phone call. None of us were SURE that it would work out. Fortunately it has and you've been handsomely paid for a UDFA. We all agree that compared to your breteren on the line you are underpaid and we'd like to see that amended. However, we need to see some commitment from you in order to discuss increasing our commitment to you an that includes coming in to work and honoring your current contract while we work on a new agreement. By not coming in your are showing us that making the playoffs is not that important to you and that makes us question even more whether we want to extend ourselves further for you. As you recall, you replaced a player who wasn't overly interested in football and we don't want to go down that road again. We're serious in our desire to have you as a happy, well paid part of our team, show us that you are serious about helping us win and not just helping yourself. Do yourself a favor, hire a new agent. Drew Rosenhaus gets his guys paid and he doesn't cost them money with holdouts and nonsense. (I never thought I'd say that - I feel dirty) Thank you for your time, now show up for work.

I was thinking long before training camp started, that if Peters didn't have a new deal in place by the time camp starts, he should fire his agent, show up to camp, and tell his new agent to get a new deal done before the start of the season or else.

Rumor was one of the reasons Peters didn't get drafted is because he's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. His recent conduct isn't doing anything to dispute that possibility.

First of all, a player that misses the last game of the regular season and the Pro Bowl due to injury should never not show up for offseason conditioning/minicamps much less refuse to make any effort to keep in contact with the team. That's being grossly irresponsible and unprofessional. The Bills organization decided right then and there to not budge until he shows up, and I don't blame them one bit.

Skip a mandatory minicamp to "make a statement" and pay a modest fine? I can deal with that. But not showing up to camp demonstrates that he's not just being stubborn, he's being stupid. Skipping regular season games, forfeiting major salary in the process, is even more stupid. He's essentially gambling that the Bills will suffer an outrageous rash of injuries at OT, (as in Walker and Chambers and Bell) making them so desperate for an OT they'll cave and give him whatever he wants. In the movie "The Sting", Hooker put down $3000 on Red, and of course lost. Peters is playing I.M. Dumb roulette, putting down hundreds of thousands on #71, and of course will lose too.

What makes even less sense if he really is still injured is that he is going to have to pass a physical before the contract would become official anyways...its not like the Bills are gonna give him like 7 mil per year and then be like..."Oh, we didn't realize you were still hurt..."

Well said, but you wrote it as though Peters will actually read this. Even if he did, based on his incredibly stupid decisionmaking so far, what makes you think he would even understand what you are saying?

What are you talking about Willis? The Bills have done that before when snookered in by agent. Oh yeah Tom Donahoe is gone so it will not happen.

Well, Jason Peters probably won't but honestly you never know who does read things in here. We got a least a few confirmed journalist lurkers about and if I were an agent I'd have someone on staff reading these things and trying to control the spin. Who knows if that's happening. Regardless, it made me feel better to write it that way and I think it made for a better post (despite the post midnight spelling).

I agree.

Parker is getting nothing from Peters current contract since that was signed with Peter's last agent. An agent does not sign on with a player and then not get paid for two years - he wants his share of the money now.

I have a feeling Eugene Parker might end up being fired by Jason Peters. Ive seen articles where they asked other agents about the Peters holdout and everyone of them said its the wrong direction for the agent to take.........

Peters fired has last agent to sign on with Parker. Obviously Parker sold himself to Peters with this holdout scenario.
