It doesnt make any sense to get a CB with our 1st round draft pick for a couple reasons we could get a cheap 1 in FA not a asante samuel but a guy like travis fisher or jason david.. 2 good but not great corners.. and the last reason is THE COVER 2 SYSYEM DOES NOT HAVE TO HAVE A GREAT CB... so what u guyz think dont u agree?

We barely ran the cover 2 the 2nd half of the season, going with mostly man coverages.

do you know this based on something that was said, or your view of the film? just curious.

(And re. the original post, I'm convinced you need elite corners regardless of the scheme you play. It's a reason why CB's cost so much--everyone in the market thinks that way)

There was a recent interview between John Murphy and Marv Levy. Levy (aka the Golden Man) stated that he will not reveal his draft and FAs plans for a couple of recents.

1) He would tip his cap to the opposition in this chess game of the NFL.

2) If he states the team is interested in a particular position, it could affect team chemistry. If Levy says the Bills are interested in Dwayne Jarrett, how is that gonna make Price and Reed feel?

As always, Levy made a lot of sense. However, the one thing he said definitely (and with a wink) is that the team needs to be much better at running and stopping the run. He said take that for what it is worth and laughed.

We're not drafting a corner, take it to the bank. :P

The cover 2 doesn't require great cover corners, that's true. But in true Tampa form it does require a wicked 4 man pass rush to force QB's to chuck the ball quick into those underneath zone coverages. What the Bills did, which made them so much more successful after the bye week, was recognize that they could make up for their lack of a dynamic pass rush by taking away the oppositions best receiver by putting Clements on that guy. It was a true cover 2, except Clements was in man coverage a lot and always rolled with the best receiver.

They can let Nate walk, but they'd better improve the pass rush A LOT, which will likely work counter to their desire to improve their run defense. There aren't many DL out there who are great pass rushers AND good run defenders. IMO, replacing Nate's impact will require multiple very good DL, which means using up valuable chips(cash and/or valuable draft picks). I don't see that as cost effective, nor do I see it as a realistic goal considering how little is out there in FA or how difficult it is to find those guys on draft day.
