Meeting the President has to be the second thrill of a lifetime for him. Nice job, GW. I give you enough crap, when you do a decent thing it deserves at least some acknowledgment. Not that it wasn't a photo-op, but still...

So he is human after all. Seriously, I have a friend with an autistic kid and it was a really nice gesture. Not sure who got the bigger kick out of who in the meeting, but it was nice, even it was a photo op.

Don't you mean "Autistic kid gets to meet Jason McElwain"? :(

Also something the national news would ever report, he took the time to meet with 5-6 local families who lost someone in Iraq and Afgahn... for over an hour. One of the families had nothing but great things to say about the meeting when interviewed.

I guess it's not Cindy Sheeman worthy news though.

I'm not a Bush fan, but it takes guts to face the people who's kids were killed because of your decisions.

I heard the New York Times is reporting that President Bush punched an autistic kid and then taunted him. They are also reporting that it was President Bush who actually caused Jason to be born with Autism...Something to do with global warming I think.

Cindy Sheehan praised the President shortly after meeting with him the first time, so there is still the chance that a family member of a fallen soldier will change their mind and start protesting. The National media will start covering the story at that point. No point in reporting anything positive about this administration or the war.

Ya know....I supported the war and the President. But this "blame the media" BS is really getting old. I mean, the place is a trainwreck, bombs are goin off every day, there are major terrorist operations to infiltrate the Iraqi government now (Embassy thingy), we cant catch/kill anyone above "private", its now coming out that the ENTIRE operation was a bungled mess from day one (Cobra book), the country is a "Franz Ferdinand" away from a full-out Civil War, but "hey....we got electricity back on another block in Mosul!!!!!"???

Doesnt cut it.....sorry.

Tell ya what....the Bushies can whine that the media isnt reporting good news...WHEN THERE IS SOME ACTUAL GOOD NEWS.

Which are things we all learned about via the media, making those "blame the media" rants all the more inane.

I love it. Say something bad about the media and get called a Bushie. Even after saying I'm not a fan of Bush. Politics, gotta love it.

And who is giving you your information about the place being a "trainwreck"??? The media! I'll tell you what, when you show me the New York Times article about how happy the families of the fallen soldiers were to meet the President and how excited the autistic kid was to escort the President to his limo I'll stop blaming the media. Do you really believe there is no credibility issue with the national media when it comes to reporting on this administration? How many fake memos have to come out before you see the light? I guess I need to start writing good news on a protest placard and maybe they will cover me by mistake.

Lets see...

A major operation by Al Qaeda that would have had 400 men infiltrating the Iraqi police force and would have taken over the US and UK embassies in Baghdad (OUTSIDE the Sunni triangle, Joe) was thwarted.

-or-

Another school was opened in Mosul.

Which story should be focused on?

Why not both? How about an even-handed story?

Oh, and Al-Quaeda? I guess that PROVES the president's opinion that the "insurgency" is really heded by foreign terrorists.

LMFAO

I know you must be embarrased, but it is best to come out of the liberal closet and admit you have a problem.  There are support groupd that can help you cope with the shame.

"Bushies" is not in itself a derogatory term, wing. The point is not to micro anaylize the press. My point is that the Bush Administration (better?) is falling back on old defenses and old cliches to support this War, defenses and cliches that have little, if any traction anymore. They are still acting like this is April 2003 and thats just pigheaded.

I agree that the same old cliches and catch phrases are growing old and the public has tuned it out. I think both sides of the aisle are falling into that trap. I would not want to see any administration blame the media directly. As someone outside the administration though, I think it is reasonable to question the objectivity of some of the nations largest media outlets. Even our crappy paper in Rochester leans heavily to the left. If you are Michael Savage or Stuart Smalley, your listeners know that they are not getting both sides of the issues. If you are pitching your product as a newspaper or news program, you should attempt to be as objective as possible.
