I certainly was surprised to read that he was a quadriplegic while winning Restauranteur of the Year.  
Maybe he is connected to the 2 crimes that WRAL is reporting on below this one: the woman that killed a guy with fentanyl and the woman smuggling drugs into a correctional institution.

Interacted with three different people recently who had kids with drug addiction issues. It has become a widespread issue in our society and it can be devastating to individuals and those who love them.
