Greg Newsome for Tyson Campbell

I don't know much about Campbell. Jags obviously drafted Travis Hunter to play CB and WR.

Newsome had a bad year last year but was playing well this year.  Interesting/weird move for Browns.  Newsome would have been a FA and Browns have serious cap issues.  They could have let him walk and possibly earned a comp pick.  Now they take on more salary.

Maybe this is a preemptive transaction, that allows them to shop Denzel Ward in the coming days???

It is interesting, I’m a fan of Newsome. Thought he’d turn into a more consistent player than he has. 2 years ago he was solid and seems to be having a bounce back year like you said. Might be a wash in terms of player for player if Campbell can start getting his hands on the ball and disrupting play as he seems like a decent tackler from the Jags games I’ve watched over the last few years.

Unlikely on shopping Ward for anything less than a first or second rounder. He’s their best player in their secondary and only a few years into that extension which made him the highest paid CB. It’s really Ward and Delpit, not much else.

Agree but Ward has had multiple games missed due to injury. Like you said he is a high value asset. His contract may make him difficult to trade. The GM is trying to save his job. Will be interesting to see if they make more moves.

Newsome is a better fit for zone and Schwartzy wants to play man, they also save like 8mill right now on the cap. He’s also best known for celebrating excessively like he did anything when a QB literally overthrows the WR he’s on and about to walk in FA. Good move for both teams bc better fit for Jags scheme and they could likely re-sign or get a comp pick

I work in sales and this is literally me any time a customer comes in and tells me exactly what they're going to buy and immediately pays full retail sticker price without any haggling whatsoever. 😎

To your point, the Browns play more man than any team in the NFL. https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/stats-nfl/nfl-coverage-schemes/

And just because I'm posting that table, the Bills also play man coverage sometimes. In fact, they are middle of the pack in the league in man vs. zone. So no, THEY DO NOT ONLY PLAY A "SOFT ZONE!"
