B-Man Posted October 10 Author Posted October 10 Just when you think that the democrat 'leaders' can't go any lower. They are slaves to the extreme Left. BREAKING: Speaker Johnson is FURIOUS after learning that Schumer plans to keep the government closed until AFTER an Antifa-involved "No Kings" rally in DC on Oct. 18 "It's being told to us they can't reopen the government until after that rally, because they can't face their rabid base!" "They have a Hate America rally scheduled for Oct. 18 on the National Mall. Pro-Hamas, Antifa people, they're all coming out. House Democrats selling T-shirts for the event." "I have HAD it with these people. They're playing games with real people's lives." Absolutely disgusting.

B-Man Posted October 11 Author Posted October 11 Shrinkage By Bill Glahn Are mass federal layoffs here? NBC News reports, Trump administration begins ‘substantial’ federal worker layoffs amid shutdown. Details, Affected agencies include the departments of Interior, Homeland Security, Treasury, Education, Energy, Housing and Urban Development and Health and Human Services, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, according to an administration official. What are they to do? Congress never passed a 2025 budget, apparently. The money ran out the last day of the fiscal year, September 30. Thanks to the Senate filibuster, Democrats won’t provide the votes to extend current spending levels. Starting next week, federal workers won’t get paid. In return for votes, Democrats want to reverse all of the gains made under Trump 2.0 in every area. So, there is no obvious way to resolve the impasse. It will certainly not be resolved as long as Democrats think they are winning. Republicans hold the White House and both houses of Congress. But, thanks to the filibuster, Democrats believe that they are in a position to dictate all government policy. The layoff notices are just a formality, a courtesy, if you will. Government is broke, de jure, and with $38 trillion in debt, broke, de facto. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2025/10/shrinkage.php#google_vignette 1

B-Man Posted October 14 Author Posted October 14 Trump: We're Ready for a Long Schumer Shutdown — Thanks to Tariffs Ed Morrissey Democrats have put themselves in a historically bad spot by choosing to reject a clean continuing resolution offered each day by Republicans anyway. The track record for government shutdowns has been grimmer than a roulette wheel on a dodgy casino on a secondary highway. The house, or more accurately the White House, always wins. Presidents control the designation of essential services and the use of funds when Congress refuses to budget, which is why Democrats -- who know this better than the GOP, usually -- have never opted for a shutdown as a bargaining tactic. After winging his way back from a global triumph in the Middle East, Donald Trump comes back to the Schumer Shutdown with an even stronger hand politically. However, Trump's foreign policy also offers him fiscal strength that previous presidents have not had in shutdowns, or at least not to the extent Trump will enjoy. Punchbowl explains: The White House is girding for a long shutdown and has found several new funding streams for critical programs, according to top Trump administration officials. — The Office of Management and Budget is “working on ways” to get paychecks to federal law-enforcement officers, according to an administration official. This is similar to what Trump ordered over the weekend for 1.3 million active duty military service members. — The Trump administration will ensure the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children — known as WIC — can continue to operate for the foreseeable future, a White House official said. The administration says it will use hundreds of millions of dollars in Section 32 tariff revenue. This is a vital nutrition program that serves more than six million participants per month, including 40%-plus of U.S. infants. https://hotair.com/ed-morrissey/2025/10/14/trump-were-ready-for-a-long-schumer-shutdown-thanks-to-tariffs-n3807818 .
B-Man Posted October 15 Author Posted October 15 Here’s How You Know That Dems Own This Shutdown I & I Editorial Board October 15, 2025 Those who follow the news might have noticed something different about the current government shutdown, which is now entering its third week. Namely, the lack of horror stories that usually accompany shutdowns. Anyone want to guess why that is? Consider what the news media were reporting when the government shut down for more than a month starting in late 2018 – the result of a fight over funding for the border wall. Then, the public was treated to headlines such as: “The Government Shutdown Is ‘Life And Death’ For Low-Wage Subcontractors Who Likely Won’t Be Repaid For Lost Time” “How The Shutdown Is Reaching A Breaking Point “ “Delayed Tax Refunds. Missed Federal Paychecks. The Shutdown’s Pain Keeps Growing” “Government Shutdown Leaves Workers Reeling: ‘We Seem To Be Pawns’” “How The Federal Shutdown Is Affecting Health Programs” “Fallout Grows As Partial Government Shutdown Drags On” As with most shutdowns, the press raced to record the trauma of national parks closing, with headlines such as: “National Parks Are Overflowing With Poop Thanks To The Government Shutdown.” This time around, we’re being told things like: “Governors Tap State Funds To Keep Some National Parks Open During The Government Shutdown.” Back then, air travelers were warned to fear for their lives: “Travel industry fears damage from a long government shutdown” “’Every day it gets less safe to fly’: air travelers begin to feel effects of shutdown” This time, the press has spent its time reassuring passengers that their flights won’t get canceled because “commercial flights will continue to operate and airline employees will not be impacted.” Even the fact that the Trump administration is using the shutdown to fire federal workers – which team Trump thought would pressure Democrats to cave – seems to be getting short shrift. So why the blasé attitude by the mainstream press about this shutdown? Because this one is 100% caused by Democrats, who refused to pass a bill to keep the government open unless Republicans agree to spend hundreds of billions on health care subsidies for wealthier Americans and illegal immigrants. During that 2018-19 shutdown, all those horror stories in the news made sure to pin the blame on Republicans for the shutdown – which is exactly how Democrats wanted it told. This time around, the strategy appears to be to downplay the supposed harm of a shutdown while muddying the Democrats’ responsibility for it. And the press is once again taking its marching orders from the party’s leaders. https://issuesinsights.com/2025/10/15/heres-how-you-know-that-dems-own-this-shutdown/ .
