FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov needed surgery Friday to repair the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee, injuries that will likely sideline him for the regular season and potentially the playoffs as Florida tries to win a third consecutive Stanley Cup.

Barkov was injured Thursday in his first official practice of training camp. The Panthers said the typical timetable for recovery from the type of surgery he underwent is seven to nine months.

Stash him till the playoffs. That's what they do anyway.

Break up the Sabres.

Wild sign Kirill Kaprizov to NHL-record $136M extension

Holy ****.

McDavid's agent is popping champagne

From everything that’s been reported I don’t think McDavid is looking for a max deal. If he wanted max term+AAV from the oilers, he could easily get it. He doesn’t need any other player to set the market for him.

He doesn’t seem willing to commit to Edmonton long term right now. He wants to win Stanley cups. That seems to be his only true motivation.

rumors are he may sign short term with Edmonton, and at a slight discount like he took with his last contract (where he actually approached his agent and told him to take $1M off per year because he didn’t feel comfortable making over $13M/yr at the time).

I do think this raised the price of signing Tuch though.

he Buffalo Sabres confirmed to The Buffalo News on Friday that Adam Mair is no longer with the organization after his arraignment Thursday on drunk-driving charges in Monroe County.

Mair was the Sabres' director of player development and had been with the organization in multiple roles since 2015. He played for the Sabres from 2002-10.

“We will evaluate the best fit for that role moving forward,” the Sabres said in a statement. “In the interim, the current player development staff will continue to handle the responsibilities of their positions.”
