Does the new bill cut Medicare?

AI Overview

Yes, a new bill, specifically a budget reconciliation bill, is projected to cut Medicare spending. The House-passed bill is estimated to trigger $535 billion in Medicare cuts over a decade, according to the House Budget Committee Democrats. This is due to the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act (PAYGO), which mandates automatic cuts to programs like Medicare when a bill increases the deficit.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Automatic Cuts:

The bill's impact on Medicare is triggered by the projected deficit increase, leading to automatic cuts under PAYGO.

Specific Impacts:

The cuts could affect Medicare beneficiaries' access to care, potentially making it harder for them to find doctors or maintain their current physicians.

Coverage Losses:

The bill could also impact those who are dually eligible for Medicaid and Medicare, potentially increasing their out-of-pocket costs.

Financial Burden:

Some organizations are reporting that the bill may lead to greater financial burden for Medicare beneficiaries in paying for Medicare Part B.

Who knew Massie was so poetic?

https://www.mediaite.com/media/news/house-republican-shreds-trumps-big-beautiful-bill-as-titanic-level-debt-bomb/

“Very soon,” he said. “The government will be paying $16,000 of interest, interest alone, per U.S. family.”

He estimated that under the bill’s taxing and spending levels, the national debt could balloon by as much as $30 trillion over the next decade.

“Congress can do funny math, fantasy math, if it wants,” Massie added. “But bond investors don’t.”

“We’re not rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic tonight. We’re putting coal in the boiler and setting a course for the iceberg,” he warned.

Before yielding, the congressman sniped at his Republican colleagues hoping to push the bill through while America slept: “If something is beautiful, you don’t do it after midnight.”

He is absolutely correct.  He also said he doesnt support this bill because, while it does provide for some cuts, it will eventually sunset, and the next legislature that has to deal with that sunsetting will have different priorities.  That was a big reason he doesnt support the bill.  That and he owns a calculator...

Let's legislate some spending caps first, then talk about taxes.

We should start taxing welfare, we should start taxing drug dealers. I mean. I drive a truck during the day,

in the state I'm in (democrat dump) and all day, all week, mobs of people are driving around, going to walmart,

malls, mcdonalds, etc....I smell weed on and off every 10 mins or so, how is it so many people aren't working?

How many people in this country don't pay any taxes at all?

I bet it has to be at least 30 percent and I would be shocked if not 50 percent.

And yet commies want to attack billionaires and working class who are the ones contributing to the democrat welfare

funding.

Not really clear, no.  I almost deleted that post as I considered our past conversations on these issues, but this little devil on my shoulder kept whispering “You gotta run with math”.  I figured if you were comfortable posting, I  might as well jump in.

Hope my response provided clarity from my side, to add to your perspective.  ✌️

Trump is saving the kids and cutting down on trafficking.

If you were really worried about deaths you would've avoided the Covid shot.

They are absolutely not necessary. You are telling me it’s necessary to deport a woman who’s lived in the U.S. for 40 years?

Are we using the money for our education or sciences? Nope! Just to terrorize brown people.

There is some good in all of this, he is destroying the Maga movement. One thing he didn't do with his bill and that is ensure the survival of Maga after he is gone. If thefts is one group that sucks of the system it is the Maga white trash, plenty of the on here too. Once the feel the negative impact and start to drop dead we can all celebrate. Nothing in that bill for there future.

Oh you mean the one dear leader helped bring into play and got himself? That shot? My whole family got it and we are all fine. The line for the shot was a mile long to get it when I went, no mass deaths or health issue in my area from it. You dumb ass Maga are full of *****

I’m not really interested in the opinion piece of a lesser person declaring what the founders of our country might say, think or do.  It’s an exercise in arrogance even when discussing liens on hate and anger, dim wits and bit chests.

On the other hand, respectful dialogue with a friend I disagree with is my goal.  You should try it. Oh, and good morning to you as well.

You’re saying I was preemptively disrespectful to you in those three threads? I understand I can get off on the wrong track, and sometimes my humor is mostly funny to me, but I try to make things right if I missed.

It's always fun to dig deep into 4th&schlongs sources. The bulwark and rawstory links never get old.

In this case I searched the author of this piece, Nathan J Robinson, only to find he's Noam Chomsky's friggin co-author.

But keep crying about X!

😂

What I pay for health insurance for my family every year and the insane deductible would make most people lose their shlit.

So if you are on medicaid as an illegal or an able bodied adult then I have zero point zero fuk.cs to give about you "losing your healthcare" that I am forced to pay for.

As a work of fiction and a mental exercise, it’s fine, I have no issue with that.   But for 4th to take it, absorb it, and forward to me as if it’s anything beyond “this guy thinks that this guy would have thought…” doesn’t move the needle for me.

It seems likely to me a similar argument could be made that Trump is a superior historical figure because he has never owned slaves, while Jefferson, Washington and the like did.   I’d think even 4th would think Trump is the better man in that regard, though honestly he might not.  Hard to say.
