The demise of the DOE is another fascinating study in L/R dynamics. No one is arguing  that in the past 50 years ANYTHING in Education has improved, but some are arguing that they are needed, but I can't figure out why? Their duties can be placed elsewhere easily and eliminate a lot of redundant positions. Right now we are dealing with the fallout of the ending of the federal funds from ESSER that caused a sugar rush of spending over the past 3 years because they gave our district cash but put a requirement on it that it be spent immediately, much of it could completely wasted.

I can answer this easily- too many people lied to them. They(Democrats) said men can be women, whites are more violent per capita, government spending equals quality, a college degree is gender studies should be respected. There is much more but if you only lie to someone when they find out the truth they will hate you.

Exactly.  I said the same in the other thread.

But. But, but Trump lies all the time they say.

When you lie to people so broadly and systematically over years then they tend to go beyond just shrugging off yet another lying politician to actively supporting that same politician who stands up to their broad culture wide lying.

the DOE solution to failing schools was two things- more money for failing or more oversight, which cost more money. Nothing they ever pushed really mattered and usually was just a box to check.

Government bureaucrats do not equal "education."

Whoa….a new MAGA poster with totally predictable responses! Bravo! Did you come up with that all on your own?

I have mentioned several of them but I will give one I have likely not mentioned before:

In 2017 the county received a grant to help some of the lowest performing schools. They paid an additional 20k a year to teachers for three years at those schools to help recruitment but then harangued them and told them how to teach. Why would you simply not pick the best teachers and let them do their job? The grant required that the teachers spend so much time on paperwork they couldn't do their job properly. So more money to the teacher, more supervision, but no better results
