The team will have a tough couple games/losing streak at some point. Getting swept by Atlanta now does raise some red flags. Not enough to fully panic but some cause for concern. Rebounding against the Phillies would still be a big statement here. Unfortunately they play tomorrow night. No time to lick their wounds here. I’m with you. Panicked? No. Concerned? You betcha. 1
SinceThe70s Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Third time has not been a charm. The past two years my vacation coincided with winning streaks, this year it's been the opposite, their current losing streak started on my first day of vacation. Flying home tomorrow, hopefully that will be a slump buster.

Another Fan Posted July 7 Author Posted July 7 @Gugny @SinceThe70s @ExWNYer Had on WFAN this morning. Listened to lots of unhappy Yankees fans calling in. Especially with Boone. I think this was a point Gugny has made over the years but the Yankees aren't ever winning a World Series with him as manger. A seemingly decent guy but not a championship type manager. The rivalry between the Yanks/Mets to me isn't really that big a thing anymore. I looked at the series as more important to the Mets as getting back on winning track vs NYC bragging rights. In the past I admit I wouldn't have saw the series like that. No biggie on today's game. The Yankees really needed it more than the Mets to win. I liked that Mendoza got thrown out there at the end. I'm a fan of managers making scenes like that every now and then if they feel they're being screwed over. So be it it's not like every day. Then the outbursts lose their meaning. 1
Another Fan Posted July 21 Author Posted July 21 @Gugny @SinceThe70s @ExWNYer Pretty good tribute to David on Saturday. Can tell how much that day meant to him. The Mets got the win today but something just feels a little off about the team. Like last year the whole Grimace thing took on a life of its own. That and the OMG performance. That brought the team together. They don't seem to have that intangible. But then again I'm not there and have no idea...... I was very surprised to learn David was such a prankster! I just kinda always had the image of him as a goodie two shoes. But hey he needed outlets somewhere.
SinceThe70s Posted July 26 Posted July 26 @Another Fan @ExWNYer @Gugny Epic Keith: https://nypost.com/2025/07/26/sports/snys-keith-hernandez-bluntly-calls-out-hot-mic-heckler-shut-up/ Keith Hernandez had no patience for a rowdy fan at Oracle Park on Friday night. After Ronny Mauricio fouled one off in the second inning of the Mets’ 8-1 win over the Giants, a fan yelled, “That was a weak swing!” While SNY play-by-player Gary Cohen tried to keep the conversation on Mauricio, Hernandez jumped in about the fan. “Give that guy a hot dog so he can chew on something and shut up,” Hernandez said.

My best friend from high school who I used to go to Mets games with got a job that made him do like a lot of traveling...... and as a result one of his hobbies would be seeing the Mets on the road in different stadiums. He went to San Francisco in 2010ish I want to say and he told me their fans were the worst in treating him as a Mets fan in all his travels. The night he went the Mets won and they were like extra salty to him. One guy was about to get in a fight with him but my friend is 6'3" so yeah the guy thought better of it.

I think there are arguments for all, but here's my list: Mauricio: I think he has the highest upside Vientos: I expected a sophomore slump (maybe not as bad as it's been) and just can't ignore how impactful he was last year. On the downside, unless Pete walks after this year I don't like him at third base. Acuna: this is the type of player we need. Speed, versatility, glove,...I really wanted to put him second. Baty: from what I've seen, I think his ceiling is an above average but not great player

A tad cocky, if you ask me, but it’s better than being afraid. Baty is my Ike Davis, Mike Conforto guy. I soooooo wanted him to “get it,” but this team is too good and too close to keep throwing a question mark in the lineup. I still think Vientos has something in him. My hope is that he gets it going late in the season like he did last year and carries it into the playoffs. Acuña is a player I’d love to retain. I love his speed. He’s got a good glove. Versatile infielder and he’s got the pedigree. Edited Tuesday at 04:18 PM by Gugny

As for Mauricio, for every Crow-Armstrong there's one or more Kelenic's - but Mauricio's ceiling looks pretty damn high. 1
