Outages such as these are not abnormal, and have more to do with local funding. They are not abnormal, and have nothing to do with this accident, where a guy simply violated the altitude restrictions on an approach, and flew into power lines.

When you can’t deal with the facts, attack the messenger. Classic deflection but let’s dismantle the nonsense anyway: Outages like this aren't "abnormal" when a plane brings down power lines. That’s not just bad luck it’s a failure of infrastructure resilience, and pretending otherwise is willful ignorance. Blaming “local funding” doesn’t erase the reality that decades of underinvestment which the Biden’s administration tried to address through legislation your side opposed is exactly why everything is so fragile in the first place. And yes, the pilot made an error - in the fog - while trying to land at an airport where both the runway lights and weather alert systems weren’t working. That’s not just pilot error; that’s systemic neglect. Some of us are actually focused on fixing real problems. The rest just get angry when the blame is correctly placed on white, straight, male status quo.

Approach charts have minimum altitudes at various distances that must be adhered to. They are there for a reason, like in this case, a ridge line with extending power poles. This is aviation 101. You abide by them and you are safe. Want an explanation? I'm sure you can't figure it out. Why did this plane crash I'm glad you mentioned fixing "real problems," because that's what our current Sect of Transportation is doing. Quite unlike the last knucklehead who was more concerned about removing male nomenclature and hiring/promoting based on race and gender. It doesn't matter what is available or out of service on the ground. Period. 1
