I’ve heard that the bad orange man is an existential threat to democracy. When does that start? It seems like every branch of government is going full speed ahead. Keep me posted with your delusions if you don’t mind.

And what will it take to open your eyes. Elimination of the federal trade court?

Cancelation of Nov 26 elections, arrest of political foe, trade deal with Russia, annexation if Greenland or Canada? Or will you always be blind?

At least two of those. Good lord.  By what vehicle do you think the Nov 2026 elections would be cancelled? Trumpian decree? This is so embarrassing. You seem like a frightened old man.

Please remember to come back in Nov 26 and 28 and fess up to your ridiculous thoughts. Maybe meet me at the polling station. You can hand out water.

Frightened, no. Maybe you should read the small print in the big beautiful bill.

Nov 26 is on jeopardy. War against NATO  because of Greenland and Canada is real. Trade with Russia is close..

I want to be wrong, but I am not. Watch this trade judicial thing. By next week those judges will be household names, ridiculed , threatened. There is no organization left in government to stop him....no impeachment,  no arrest capability, no judge, no congress, no rule of law.

These things are paranoid delusions. The party with a 20% approval rating and their media allies have told you to believe it and you willingly comply. It’s embarrassing.

The problem with this line of thinking is that we can point to these examples (Obama and Biden) which reveal how government actually works in practice.  How do we know this?  Well, see Obama and Biden.  Step back a bit further and we can look at the actions of the DOJ and special counsel and know that the government has allowable tolerance on the handling of national security (HRC) and holding, dissemination of classified material (Biden), and dealing with hostile foreign nationals attempting to derail free and fair elections (Clinton-Steele).  We know that transparency and light in the darkness is the ideal, but we also know that the ideal is not the standard.

If we look at your post, @Andy1 gives you a thumbs up for your post on hypocrisy, but we’re left to wonder why he would cast his lot with a Biden presidency when he was a critical advocate and co-conspirator in Obama’s actions?

I think it’s because we recognize that government actually operates in ways contrary to the way it should.  That’s the norm. That’s how it’s done.  That’s the standard.

I’m late to the discussion here..l.been busy enjoying life away from PPP and maximizing time outside since we have finally gotten some nice weather.

With respect to your comment, I remember all the hysteria from the right in response to Obama using executive orders to implement his policy. Now that Trump is doing the same, to an even greater degree, the right is happy. The odd thing is that Republicans control everything, yet Trump still feels he has to resort to EOs rather than working through congress. Which suggests to me that republicans in congress want to distance themselves from his policies.

The founding fathers would never support EOs to implement policy. In the early history of our nation, they were rarely used. Conceptually, the President should be working through congress to implement policy. EOs should be the exception, not the norm, yet somewhere along the line congress decided Presidents can do whatever they want through use of that process. I guess I agree with your concept that there is the ideal of how government should work vs how it does work. Here is an interesting link showing how EOs have been used across America’s history.

Also…I cast my lot with Biden because I thought he would hurt me less than Trump.  I tend to like stability and slow change and felt Trump was too unpredictable. He has proven me right.

Great reply, thank you.

Interestingly, I like stability and reasonable change, but just using the collective approach to managing illegal immigration as one glaring example, that can lead to an absolute clusterf&ck.

1. I am not liberal...never have been, but I do know a dangerous fraud when I see one...

So like trump you put anyone who doesn't agree with you in prison, or concentration camps in Libya? Sounds like another time in history.

Again, though, the Prez and admin who tried to put the opposition in prison was Biden/Harris.  That ship sailed, sir, but thankfully enough Americans with common sense course corrected.

I just got my passport renewal approved.  was concerned as I'm a registered D and not ashamed of it.  they're looking at social media posts for foreign higher education visas. But was any R ever concerned in the same way?  I think not.  Not for any good reason.  When a fifth gen American is worried about the guarantee of his citizenship, there's a problem.  No obvious litmus test for citizenry now, but it's not far off.
