(OT) Trukin' to Buffalo

Recommended Posts

At the time I think everyone in the place thought it was the first.  In fact it was years later that I learned it wasn't, which I very disapointed in finding out.

A sign of how things have changed since '95. Now a days you now the setlist while it is being played and can have a copy of the show a couple of days later. I remember when it was amazing to get a show within a couple of months of when it was played.

My final Dead run.  However they actually broke out Unbroken a few nights before in Philly first.

Was that one of the October '89 shows? One of those was my very first Dead show. October 13 I think. When I Paint My Masterpiece, Dear Mr. Fantasy, the Hey Jude refrain... thinking about that show puts a smile on my face. :D

Saw the Dead with Steve Miller at Rich in 1992, loved that show!!!

Also saw that Dead with Sting at Rich as well, anyone else go to either of those shows?

I went to the one with Sting, that was June '93. Spent the Sting set up near the stage and it was annoying because everybody thinks they can sing like him (it was like that SNL skit with him where people break out into "Roxanne" in the elevator). The highlight was that from where I was standing we could see Jerry sitting at a table off to the side of the curtain behind the stage with his long, flowing white hair and shades, smoking a cigarette (well, smoking something) and looking mystically out into the crowd like an apparition of God Himself. "Jerry's looking at me, man!" "No, man, he's looking at ME!" "No, dude. He's looking at ALLLL of us." "Whoaaaa." :D

Crosby, Stills & Nash opened the one in July '90. Awesome.

I still kick myself for missing the 4th of July show in '86 with Dylan and Tom Petty, though.

GREAT news!

That was one helluva show!

(So was the parking lot before the show...)  ;)

(The July '90 show was even better though...)

The July '90 show... I keep talking about that. Rico was good enough to send me the CDs of that show so I can relive it forever!

And they DID play Truckin' at the '90 show! :D

saw them both.

they tore down the fences at the second one.

For about 8 years, the top grossing concert in the US every year was the Rich Stadium Dead show.
