No, I’d rather they be able to win one score games from time to time, it’s either blow out or nothing and that’s not going to cut it.  If they can’t learn to win in these close games, they’re never going to go the distance.  I’m not expecting an undefeated season or anything like that, but after losing the way they did to close out last season, I think a W in this particular spot would’ve gone along way in showing this team has in fact taken another step forward.

I can appreciate that, but if the bills execute  or have proper personnel, this is a blowout.

I’m more focused on games where I think we peak in execution and still lose compared to games where we are down double digit players and just barely lose

Too many mistakes.

Bounce pass to McKittrick on 4th down

Two straight running plays to Moss followed by strip sack

Drops by Stef and Gabe on the last drive

McKittrick not getting OB

Cookie dropping the pick 6

3rd and 22  <kitty> defense only rushing 3 when previous 2 plays with pressure put Tua in the Hurt Locker

Bass o Matic missing a chip shot

Josh losing his cool and getting the PF

McC not challenging the Gabe Davis TD

I'll stop there, getting too pissed off.

How does any of that matter? The fact remains, the W was there for the taking, on more than one occasion. Great teams overcome adversity and find a way to win close games.

I couldn't help but have flashbacks of old Bills games or a rookie Josh Allen. I know that's not the case but it sure feels that way.

Why?  Because Josh double clutched a TD pass, or because Quesenberry held when in FG range?  Or when Milano dropped a pick 6? or a bad snap at end of 1st half cost us a FG?

Gimme a break, they overcomed alot this week and came up short because they made too many mistakes in crucial situations.

Factor in playing in 100 degree heat. And before anyone says Miami deals with the same thing, their sideline is shaded the ENTIRE game.  Not sure how the league or union doesn't look at heat index and consider that as dangerous as lightning... do we need to see a star QB come out due to the heat before considering a rule change

The Bills beat themselves. Miami didn't beat us but they get the W. The Bills team was a shell of itself. It looked like 2 bad teams playing each other. Entertaining but it was anything but quality football. The Bills need to get healthy. I'm fearful the Bills suffered more injuries in this game.

Bringing a little positive to this thread.

It took half our team being down and 100 degree heat for the Dolphins to win by 2 at home. This team was banged up and tired from two big prime time games to start the season. On a short week. Lost Micah for the year. No Poyer. etc., etc. And still had so many chances to pull this one out. Just didn't have enough in the tank to do it.

I'm proud of our guys. They left it all out on the field today, even though they came up short. They literally played their guts out.

And I'm not worried about Miami in the long run. It's only week three. Heal up, rest up, and continue the march next week.

Go Bills!

(And you guys are ridiculous to be calling out McDermott...he's THE main reason we are where we are)

So many positives to pull out of this.

You just cannot gloss over the fact that most all our Offensive line with the exception of Dawkins was backups and we racked up how many yards?

The plan was to go with Kumerow opposite Diggs and he gets injured forcing Davis (who is still not 100%) back into the line-up and it showed. Playing with a secondary that was rookies and backups that held up pretty well against Hill and Waddle. Diggs was clearly dinged up too.

Phillips and Oliver out and Settle not 100% and our defensive line played tough. Groot continues to improve, and Von is Von.

Moss had a good game, Singletary was solid, and Cook is getting over his rookie "yips". Gilliam is starting to shine in Dorsey's offense and Morris even got involved.

I did not like the officiating this game, but qualify that with how they were calling PI's. Benford had an early one that kept a Miami drive alive that was weak as hell, but Miami linebackers and secondary were draped all over our recevers early on several plays. Miami had some great coverage plays sprinkled in there that I don't dismiss - just like to see consistency.

We had 2 or 3 normally sure TD's and a chip shot FG miss and it still came down to the wire and within a second of having a kick to win it (Miami players did seem to interfere with getting that ball set, but meh) - the heat, new players, confusion... all factor into those execution misses.

This team will heal up, and all those new guys got valuable experience, and we will come out stronger for it.

Lol I think I am going to stay off the board this week.  I can already see the trolls coming out of the woodwork with their pitchforks all week long.

Its one game on a bad week.  The team will be fine.

Depends on the health of the team. Right now, the team isn't fine.

I don't know what your idea of a troll is. I do know that I get beat up on the board for my construction criticism of the Bills. Seems like it's not allowed here. Bottom line is the Bills are not the same team with all their injuries. That includes the offensive side of the ball too.  The game reminded me of the old heartbreak Bills if a few years ago. Not a good feeling. Injuries are killing this team.

Fine, great teams shouldn’t lose any games… so that’s why great teams are always undefeated.

im always optimistic, but I’m a realist too.  The Bills were down plenty of players, playing on a short week in a volcano.  They should have won in a vacuum, but this is football, super bowl champions do in fact lost games.

we lost because we missed opportunities.  Would you rather we are blown out when we lose?

Bills are still the best team in the league, this was the patriots game from last year part two

I would rephrase what you said. The Bills are the best team in the league when healthy. Right now we are not healthy and not the best team in the league. Hoping by playoff time the Bills will be healthy.

That's fair, if you also look at how many "critical" errors we made in execution, and not coaching.

We botched a FG, Josh missed an easy TD pass, we botched at least 1 (likely 2) end of half FG opportunities and Milano dropped a pick 6 that might have sealed the game.  That's poor execution, not coaching.  We had a backup secondary, minus Taron, and still held Tua to 13 completions....bottom line is we choked on too many critical plays.  That won't happen all the time, but we need to learn to make those plays in close games.

Well said.

Probably more dangerous odds-wise than a lightening strike when they delay games.

Need better protocols to allow team breaks to let players rehydrated and cool those body temps down...... would throw TV schedules off, but what is more important.

Yep..and it’s literally ridiculous that the visiting team doesn’t have shade covering and more significant air conditioning systems on their sideline.

I'm sorry, I've been Bills Fan for 45 years and with the exception of the Greatest Comeback vs Oilers we ALWAYS choke and lose close games in the final seconds.  Always.  The Hail Murray and :13 seconds were basically the same thing.  We seemingly win the game with a great last minute TD drive with almost no time remaining - and our Defense chokes and we lose.   Our Defense always seems to have teams on the ropes; 3rd and 22 today - and somehow teams ALWYAS get a first down.  On offense Allen falls apart when you rattle him.  Today is a perfrect example.   I'm tired of everyone thinking he's so clutch; sometimes he is - but just as often he's not.    I hope he proves me wrong....

On the Sky coverage, Jason Bell said the game came down to conditioning. When Josh was preparing to throw to Isiah for that TD he didn't have the legs to do it.  And that's what gave Miami the win.

He didn't have the legs because he spent 42 minutes of clock time carrying the entire O on his shoulders
