I know you meant this as funny. It's not.

More families are affected by skin cancer than you realize. It gets worse the later you and your family members age.

I have been there personally and seen it spread. It's not funny or a 'light issue'.

Add to it that simple 'elective procedures' like cancer screenings were stopped for almost a year in NY due to 'the pandemic'.

Cancer deaths are now through the roof. I've seen a few sources show that non-COVID deaths among 18-59 are 40% higher than expected by insurance companies.

My non-conspiracy brain tells me that 'elective screenings' like skin cancer biopsies/ colonoscopies/ paps etc are important to catching early cancers and preventing premature death. But those were suspended and are now backed up since thousands of health care workers were thrown out like garbage in NYS.

We will see a death bump in preventable cancer deaths in the next few years due to attitudes like yours and policies from Albany.

Is that still funny to you?

He wasn’t saying skin cancer is a a meh issue, his point was to the point, and stating that caution is warranted, you just took it it the wrong way. One can understand your take, but you had no reason to cast blame as you did, this coming from a cancer survivor, whose father as well has had multiple instances with skin cancer.

Go Bills!!!

Although I’ve not had that personal experience, my best friend and workout buddy for 18 years has had more treatments, removals, and scans than I can count.  He takes every precaution, and has for years.

Im glad McD takes it so seriously.

Much better to be proactive than reactive !!

It's poo pooed as "only" skin cancer.

I went for a doctor check up 2014, I asked about scab that wouldn't heal on my temple. Oh, you're getting older he said, age spots are going to happen. 4 years later, went to Dermatologist for problem with my scalp, dry, skin wouldn't  heal. She asked, whats that on your temple? Oh, I said it's just an age spot. Lol!

She took a biopsy, cancer, a tumor about the size of a wisdom tooth was taken out of my head. Crazy!

You can get it on your feet, shins, ears. Be careful out there TBD'ers.

Great post HOUSE during this summertime we all love to enjoy as a reminder to be edcuated about the dangers of the sun.

Go Bills!

I am very faired skin - clear.  Quoting Space Jam:

  • Bill Murray: It's because I'm white, isn't it?
  • Michael Jordan: Larry's white.
  • Bill Murray: Larry's not white. Larry's clear.

I have a problem with light (even florescent) causing beign cysts to form under my scalp.

I had to have them removed because they are so painful and doctor needed to remove one size of a large marble.

After surgery I was told I need to keep head covered to help keep bandage in place so I did it for 6 months while it healed.

Work complained but I said it was a medical issue and if they said I could not wear a hat I'd have to go on disability until completely healed.

When I returned for followup with doctor he asked if I had any more cysts and I had none.

He checked and there were not anymore cysts, even those not causing pain.

Doctor told me to keep hat on outside or inside under florescent lights.

Not had a cyst since.

I tried to help the guy (by telling him my experience with melanoma), but he was already off the rails.
