It's not a big cap hit ($400k), but it is one all the same. Shows to go ya that, as there is no crying in baseball, there is no sympathy in football. It's a bottom-line, win-or-else business. Doug Brian has been a solid kicker for the Jets excluding those ugly two minutes in Pittsburgh. He is certainly superior to Lindell. Are people really that turned off by his playoff failure? Think of it this way, What would you feel like if you go to the Super Bowl, get down to line up for a 43 yard kick, with afew seconds on the clock, and the guy kicks it wide? His demeanor and body language during and after that OT win over the Faiders spoke volumes. He had lost his confidence, and was in no mood to celebrate. Weeks later, it turned out that SB 26 was his last game. When Brien missed those two FGs in the Pitt game, his plight and Norwood's from that Faiders game in '91 were almost identical, only the Bills came out on top and the Dog-Ass Jets did not. Norwood played one more year after the miss. The 91 season. Was 18-29 (very mediocre).
