Dog-Assers "jet-tison" Brien

Recommended Posts

...a mere five days after they drafted The Nuge, the Dog-Ass Jets released Brien.

It's not a big cap hit ($400k), but it is one all the same.

Shows to go ya that, as there is no crying in baseball, there is no sympathy in football. It's a bottom-line, win-or-else business.

So.....what about the Bills signing this guy? I'm a little surprised that this hasn't been a frequent topic on this board. Doug Brian has been a solid kicker for the Jets excluding those ugly two minutes in Pittsburgh. He is certainly superior to Lindell. Are people really that turned off by his playoff failure?

He has had a pretty good career, but really you have to look at a guy in his pressure situations. Think of it this way, What would you feel like if you go to the Super Bowl, get down to line up for a 43 yard kick, with afew seconds on the clock, and the guy kicks it wide? I would hate to have that happen.....

I'm afraid so. Last night, watching the '91 Bills' highlight show on E-Classic, it was painful watching Norwood. His demeanor and body language during and after that OT win over the Faiders spoke volumes. He had lost his confidence, and was in no mood to celebrate. Weeks later, it turned out that SB 26 was his last game.

When Brien missed those two FGs in the Pitt game, his plight and Norwood's from that Faiders game in '91 were almost identical, only the Bills came out on top and the Dog-Ass Jets did not.

Nope...Steve Christie took over the kicking duties in '92.

Can't tell whether you agreed or disagreed with the post of "Didn't he play one more season?" and then said "Nope.". Norwood played one more year after the miss. The 91 season. Was 18-29 (very mediocre). You're right about Christie coming on in '92.

Didn't they have two kickers one year?  I can't think of the other dude's name right now.

Brad Daluiso kicked here in 91. He wat the kickoff specialist who was with the Gints previously (if memory serves). Can't remember if he tried any long FGs.

If the Bills ever come down to a last second FG to win a Super Bowl again, I'll be a wreak no matter who the kicker is. :(

But, I'd still rather see Brian than Lindell.
