  1. The team hosted the annual Bills’ Rookie Flag Football clinic yesterday, where kids from local NFL sponsored flag football leagues do various drills with the Bills’ rookie players. Singletary was out on the field with the kids. He didn’t appear to have any issues walking and running around, and even jumped a couple of times to catch an errant pass. I would think if the injury was serious, the team would not have allowed him to participate.
  2. From what I've read, the returning players will be on one tribe playing against their loved ones to start the game. Should make the post merge game much more interesting. Also be interesting to see if the three returning players who already won a million dollars and their loved ones are targeted first.
  3. If the rest of the underground system on your property is working properly, the water should just come out the bubbler near the curb.
  4. In both Amherst and the Town of Tonawanda, these drainage systems take the gutter water from the house, out to the storm sewer that runs underneath the street. The vents near the curb are there to allow the rain water coming from the house a place to go when the storm sewer is too full to take the water, or just can't take if quickly enough. These are commonly called bubblers, as the water bubbles out of them when the sewer is full. Commonly, there are leaves, tree, roots, mud, etc. that can clog up the pipe. I was able to use a shop vac to clean out the water from the pipe, and then tried using a snake to get through to the sewer. This didn't help, so I called the town of Amherst. They sent out a truck that cleans out the connection via water pressure. It worked fine for about six months, and then was filling up with water again. I called again, and they replaced the vent and connection to the sewer, as it was their responsibility. It was pretty much plugged solid with mud. Best thing to do would be to call the town and see who is responsible for it.
  5. The only somewhat redeeming quality about the movies coming out in the theater is that I'll be able to take my kids (currently age 5 & 3) to see the bastardized versions of episodes 4-6 on the big screen.
  6. I found both part 1 and part 2 by clicking on his name in the by line. It lists all his articles starting with the most recent.
  7. It was up on July 3rd. And in two weeks, he will post Part 3.
  8. We felt it across the street from the airport. My wife felt it in Amherst.
  9. To get the 296, I took the 8x6x18 and took one off each dimension. After I posted, I realized I should have taken two off each dimension. Figure out how many AREN'T touching (i.e., use each dimension minus two to determine it's volume) then subtract that from 864. BillsFanInTexas, I think you are counting some of the cubes two or three times.
  10. 269? Edit: That's wrong. Gotta be 864-(6*4*16)=480
  11. I don't think anyone can find it unless accompanied by the current protector.
  12. I'm guessing it's ashes from the banyan trees. In the first episode, the smoke monster wouldn't follow Jack, Kate, and Charlie into the banyan trees. There are several other examples in the Lostepidia entry for The Man in Black under the Banyan trees section. The trees appear to be Smokey's Kryptonite. Garlic and holy water for vampires, fire for Frankenstein's monster, silver for werewolves. Every monster has it's weakness.
  13. From Lostepdia: The Man in Black: "According to Ilana in 2007 following Jacob's death, the Man in Black is now unable to use anything but his Locke and Monster forms." Might be one of the "rules" that Jacob mentions to the Man in Black while on the beach in last season's finale.
  14. I remember thinking (at the time) that Sawyer was going to con poor Hurley. Little did we know Sawyer was on the other side of the law.
  15. He did win the lottery, Hurley mentioned it to Sawyer in this season's season opener on the "sideways" Flight 815. From Lostepidia: Episode LAX Part 1: "Leslie Arzt is pestering Hugo Reyes to do an impression of a character in his Mr. Cluck's commercial. Arzt finds it hysterical, then asks how a guy like him came to own a major corporation like Mr. Cluck's. Hurley replies that he won the lottery and happens to like chicken, leading a downcast Arzt to quickly excuse himself. Sawyer warns Hurley not to share his lottery win with strangers, saying it will make them try to take advantage of him, but Hurley brushes it off: can't happen, because he's the luckiest man alive. "
  16. Two totally different actors and characters. The principal was played by William Atherton (of Ghostbusters and Real Genius fame), while the button pusher, Kelvin Inman, was played by Clancy Brown (of The Highlander and Earth 2).
  17. The electrician was my cousin, a displaced Buffalonian and die-hard Bills fan.
  18. Either that or young Ben needs blood, and the only viable donor is either Kate, Hurley, or Jack.
  19. D'oh! Sorry, forgot to mention the take-out part in conjunction with the gift cards. Definitely don't want to drag a newborn out if you don't have to. You can also include the restaurant's take out menu along with the gift card to keep it as simple as possible for them.
  20. The best gift my wife and I got when our children were born were gift cards to a local chain restaurants, such as Outback and Appleby's ... not having to worry about cooking a meal every night when you have a newborn can be a godsend.
  21. Didn't see this anywhere on the board, so I thought I'd post it. I heard this being discussed on WGR this morning, and now there is an interview with sportswriter Jim Kelley on WBEN. While Kelley says it's still rumor and speculation, he says with regard to the sale of the Bruins "that where there's smoke, there's fire" and that Jacobs was one of the people initially interested in owning the expansion Cleveland Browns.
  22. No CBC, CTV, MSNBC, or Sabres in HD (I just called, and a Verizon operator said "I think the local NHL broadcasts are on Fox, which we have in HD" ). Although, Verizon FIOS is sponsoring this weekend's Buffalo Sabres Puckdrop 2008 (with an open practice, unveiling jerseys, ticket sales, etc.), so I'm guessing the Sabres will be in HD on FIOS TV somehow.
  23. I don't have my spreadsheet with me, but the savings was negligible (less than $10/month) to switch.
