Thanks for reminding me of one of my favorite parts of the 2024 presidential campaign -- Trump speaking out on behalf of the "pets of Springfield, Ohio." 1

The Frankish Reich Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago GW Bush just delivered a eulogy for Cheney. Coherent, well written (kudos to the speechwriter), well delivered. Obviously sharper 17 years after his presidency ended than all 3 of our 2024 presidential candidates. A sobering thought.

Glad you brought this up. As bad as our candidates may be, something has always bothered me. GWB was accused, for all intents and purposes, of being a war criminal. The word from the liberals was that he fabricated intelligence (or participated in same), pushed the country into an unnecessary war that resulted in death, catastrophic injury, pain and suffering for millions around the world. Yet, he walked away, is by most accounts very chummy with Obama(s), Clintons etc. He left office and retired to private life and not a word of anger, rage or attempt to punish him and/or Cheney followed. He became a kindly Gampa, his daughter a mainstay on morning telly, and now recognized as a thoughtful and kindly old fellow paying tribute to his old friend. Moving ahead, Trump has classified documents in his possession, the goal is decades in prison. Never mind Biden obviously possessed/discussed/shared classified documents—and from times he had no ability to even argue he declassified—-and of course Hillary played fast and loose with national security. Why do you think one president accused of fabricating a war is left alone, another trafficking in classified documents gets the kindly elderly gentleman pass, yet Trump faced life in prison?

One word (well, technically two): J6. Four words: Peaceful Transition of Power. The sins of GWB (and even more, Cheney) are fairly commonplace in our country. The sins of Trump were not, and hopefully are not.

Better than his appearance on MNF this week that’s for sure

This is why people generally don’t trust government and what it represents. The “peaceful transition of power” from one party of war criminals to another doesn’t sound quite as lofty a premise as it used to.

The highlight was Lamb scoring a touchdown, his jersey in full view of the camera, both Mannings saying “touchdown Lamb!!” and George going “is that Pickens?” 1

Trump didn’t face life in prison that’s over exaggerating big time

Why do you think one president accused of fabricating a war is left alone, another trafficking in classified documents gets the kindly elderly gentleman pass, yet Trump faced life in prison? I know you haven't asked me but I'll take a shot at this. My perception of GWB changed after additional info about 9/11 came out and the possibility that "elements" of the U.S. government may have been complicit in that. (Examples: GWB's brother Marvin's lins to security for the WTC, Cheney's 'stand down order' as a plane was approaching D.C., GWB's failure to react significantly or even rush off to 'attend to things' when he was informed of the attacks, Project for a New American Century, certain Saudis being 'allowed' to fly out that day, and many other things.) Also notable is the delivery of "the envelopes" to certain dignitaries at GHWB's funeral. It's plain that they were received by: Jeb Bush, Laura Bush, the Obamas, the Clintons, the Cheneys and the Bidens. GWB is merely looking down in shame. Clearly all these people are responsible for things that the American people would be appalled at if they knew about it. It's also why there is such visceral hatred of Trump. He's responsible for whatever revelations/consequences that are coming. Also it's worth noting who DIDN'T get an envelope. The Carters! In fact, they looked confused as to why they were excluded from "whatever it was" that was in the envelope. The Carters = Good People. Here's a discussion of that event if you're interested:

I already know what I feel about all this—and it isn’t that you can blindly trust anything coming out of either political party. The Irag war issue is pretty egregious. Frank suggests that “peaceful transition of power” is what drove the pursuit of Trump, but fabricating intel and waging an illegitimate war is just the way it goes—-nothing to see here. No bigs. Status quo. Seems to me that people ok with that shouldn’t be surprised at 1/6 pushback. Or, that the people in power might fabricate, spread disinformation, run their own version of intelligence ops to rile up the masses.
