a couple of years ago, a map was drawn (based upon Google search terms) which purported to indicate areas that were the most racist:

how the !@#$ could anyone think that correlates to racism? I'm sure Jim Bob down in Denton is googling racist terms to find synonyms all day

researching things like highly emotional attitudes and behaviors (in addition to racism, another example is studying sexual preferences) is really hard via direct questioning and observation as most people will not answer questions or behave honestly if they know that they are being recorded. So researchers are forced to use other data points that can be obtained while the subjects aren't aware that they are being observed and using the collected data to draw inferences and conclusions

.

Is it 100% accurate? heck no.

is it subject to researcher bias? absolutely.

are there other influences that impact the results? yup

Is it one of the better choices from available options? Yes.
