The explosive summer-like month of March has come to a close, although the impact it's had on the box office is still being felt. Now the month of April closes out the Spring season of movies with nowhere near the potential box office firepower as last month. Which is a good thing, since the month of May will be primed to shatter more records when kick starts the Summer Season. Until then, there is a wide offering of family friendly films, more dramas and some comedy as well. That doesn't mean that April is completely devoid of any big money makers. There is one particular film that you cannot seem to avoid with all of the advertising it's been giving the past 2 months.

Universal continues it's fast car over-the-top action series, with it's 7th sequel, "The Fate of the Furious". When a mysterious woman seduces Dom into the world of terrorism and a betrayal of those closest to him, the crew face trials that will test them as never before. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, with Kurt Russell, and Helen Mirren. That last name is not a typo.

Emma Watson and Tom Hanks star in, "The Circle". A woman lands a dream job at a powerful tech company called the Circle, only to uncover a nefarious agenda that will affect the lives of her friends, family and that of humanity. Also starring John Boyega, Patton Oswalt, Karen Gillan, & Bill Paxton.

Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine & Alan Arkin star in the re-make, "Going In Style". Desperate to pay the bills and come through for their loved ones, three lifelong pals risk it all by embarking on a daring bid to knock off the very bank that absconded with their money. Also starring Ann-Margaret, Joey King, John Ortiz, Matt Dillon & Christopher Lloyd.

Christian Bale stars in, "The Promise". Set during the last days of the Ottoman Empire, The Promise follows a love triangle between Michael, a brilliant medical student, the beautiful and sophisticated Ana, and Chris - a renowned American journalist based in Paris. Also starring Oscar Issac, Charlotte Le Bon, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Angela Sarafyan, Jean Reno & James Cromwell.

In "Free Fire", Set in Boston in 1978, a meeting in a deserted warehouse between two gangs turns into a shootout and a game of survival. Starring Sharlto Copley, Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, Cillian Murphy & Sam Riley.

Disney continues it's Nature series with "Born in China". Venturing into the wilds of China, "Born in China" captures intimate moments with a panda bear and her growing cub, a young golden monkey who feels displaced by his baby sister, and a mother snow leopard struggling to raise her two cubs.

In "The Case For Christ", An investigative journalist and self-proclaimed atheist sets out to disprove the existence of God after his wife becomes a Christian. Starring Mike Vogel, Erika Christensen, Faye Dunaway & Robert Forster.

In "Unforgettable", A woman sets out to make life hell for her ex-husband's new wife. Starring Rosario Dawson, Katherine Heigl, Geoff Stults, Whitney Cummings, Jayson Blair, Robert Wisdom, Marissa Morgan & Cheryl Ladd.

In "How to be a Latin Lover", Finding himself dumped after 25 years of marriage, a man who made a career of seducing rich older women must move in with his estranged sister, where he begins to learn the value of family. Starring Eugenio Derbez, Salma Hayek, Rob Lowe, Kristen Bell, Rob Corddry, Rob Riggle & Raquel Welch.

In "Sleight", A young street magician is left to care for his little sister after their parents passing and turns to illegal activities to keep a roof over their heads. When he gets in too deep, his sister is kidnapped and he is forced to use his magic and brilliant mind to save her. Starring Jacob Latimore, Seychelle Gabriel, Dule Hill & Storm Reid.

In "Smurfs: The Lost Village", In this fully animated, all-new take on the Smurfs, a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty on an exciting race through the Forbidden Forest leading to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history. Starring the voices of Demi Lovato, Rainn Wilson, Joe Manganiello & Jack McBrayer.

...Set during the last days of the Ottoman Empire,...

Well, there's something you never hear.

How do you even pitch that script? "So here's the story: in the waning days of Mehmet VI's reign, just after the battle of Sarkaya..." "Thank you. Next."

Actually, it is the Star Wars plot set back in time instead of the future.

Enver Pasha gestures towards Hagia Sophia..."Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to build the world's largest unsupported dome is insignificant next to the power of the Young Turks."

Loved Helen Mirren as Dean Hardscrabble in Monsters University but not going to be see any of the films unless my wife wants to see "The F8te of the Furious" in theater.

I think "Free Fire" could be pretty good.

You know what's kind of sad? The Ottoman references were off the top of my head, but I had to look up the Star Wars quote.

Well when you get old many times you cannot remember what you had for breakfast but can remember clearly what happened in past; since you are old enough to live in Ottoman era it must be like a memory flash.
