SB XXV Playing on NFL network right now

So you're saying that, had we won the Superbowl in 1999, you wouldn't be complaining that we weren't good a couple of years later?  That's BS.

The fact of the matter is, we were the best team in the league for over 5 years.  As other teams rose and fell, we were always near the top.  I really can't believe the people who say they'd rather win one Superbowl and then go 0-16 for the next ten years (yes, that was one of the polls in the past).  Makes no sense to me.  But to each their own.

It's charming that you're trying to force yourself to make lemonaide out of lemons with our situation here, but I'm sure even you see the problem with your argument.

Essentially, you're saying, if we had won Super Bowl XXV and not repeated, you'd have been like, "Well, I'm happy, I guess. But I would have rather went and lost four than to have one just this measly one." Which is just ridiculous.

The Chicago Bears have only won one Super Bowl, and have pretty much sucked since 1985. But they can still at least hang their hats on that. I wouldn't mind having that.

Thank you for putting words into my mouth that I never said or meant.

Will you be my PR person please?

Exactly.

Fezmid's delusional if he thinks people look back on the Bills as ANYTHING other than CHOKERS. To this day, people use the Bills as the standard by which choking is measured. For good reason.

Please tell me how I misinterpreted you. Are you not, in fact, saying that you're happier with four Super Bowl losses than you would be if we had won one and not repeated?

I mean, I could have somehow missed it the first five times you said it. So, please set me straight.

Right, I'm delusional for reading multiple articles in the past few years admiring what the Bills did.

Let me guess, you're one of the people would would rather win one Superbowl and then go 0-16 for the next 15 years, right?

Yeah, whatever.

If posted the question:

Would you rather have the Bills win one superbowl then suffer through 5 losing seasons, my answer would be yes.

YES!

I want a Parade in Buffalo!

Giants fans remember the Giants of SB25.

And the fact that you could even compare our run to the Pats makes me chuckle. While it's impressive, it's no where near what the Pats have accomplished. Win OR Lose.

223935

I agree.

Should the Pats win this year (and I believe they will), that would be 3 superbowl wins in 4 years. In my mind, that is far more impressive than 4 consecutive losses.

I think what the 70's Steelers and 80's 49'ers accomplished far and away a bigger acheivement than the Bill's 4 straight. If the 4 straight is so wonderful, where do the Eagles 4 straight NFC Championship games rate? I mean, where's the cutoff?

What's next - an undefeated exhibition season?!?!? Wow!

When traning camp begins, winning the superbowl is the ONLY goal of every team and player. Anything less is an equal accomplishment(or failure) among the 31 teams who didn't take home the hardware. There are no second place ribbons. Sure, there are the conference trophies - but who the hell goes into the season hoping they can take home the Lamar Hunt trophy for god's sake?

The 90's Bills were great teams near and dear to our hearts, but the fact is, they didn't do what was necessary when it counted most.

"Almost" doesn't cut it for me.

Shh....don't tell Fez that winning is what counts. It might hurt his feelings.

This is a good point. It's often difficult for people to criticize the 90s Bills because, thus far, they are the best this franchise has produced.

Unfortunately for us, the best they had simply wasn't enough.

I think that when the Bills do eventually win a Super Bowl it will be easier to look at the 90s Bills properly. They were a very, very good team that dominated in the regular season and the playoffs, but could never bring their "A" game to the big one.

i used to be a big sports fan in general. now i only one - football - and i follow that one obsessively. because i follow the bills, it's also emotionally draining. i've told myself for about 6-7 years now that if the bills were to win a super bowl, i'd never have to watch another sporting event in my life. i pray for that day. until then, though, i'm stuck watching god know how many football games a year. so, yeah, i'd definitely take one victory over 4 losses. after all, why should i care what other people think of the bills? i'm the one who counts ...

And that, my friend, is the crux of the issue. *I* want the win. *I* want the right for a year to crow and gloat.

Is it greedy? Yes.

Is it somewhat immature. Absolutely.

But I don't care. When I go to a game at the ralph, I want to see SB (whatever) Champs painted on the back of the jumbotron.

Just a little bump for everyone's buddy, Fezmid, who has taken the liberty to challenge my intelligence in other threads regarding this argument.

I'm still waiting to see how I horribly misinterpreted you. Please, sir. Enlighten me. Show me how you are a genius and I am "simply not intelligent enough" to understand.

Please.

That's exactly what I would say.

According to Bill Simmons' 5 year grace period rule, you wouldn't be allowed to complain until next season, 2005.

I'm a diehard SU fan and I used to be a Boeheim detractor, but I'm going to keep my mouth shut at least until 2009.

I swear that I would buy anything that had "Bills SB champions" on it. Teeshirts, sweatshirts, flags, shotglasses, beer mugs, jackets, hats, programs, dvd's, etc....

I'm with JSP....that year of being champion would be fantastic.

Tonight was the debut of the NFL Network on Adelphia and that was the first thing I saw on it. I had to turn it right off. To this day, I have never watched any replays of the game or any highlights of the game except seeing Norwood miss and I still have to turn away when they show that.  I still have the tape of the game and it's never been watched or rewound since that night right after the missed FG. It's exactly at the spot where I stopped the tape at the end of the game. The only thing I did was take it out the VCR and put it away in a closet. It stays that way until the Bills win a Super Bowl and then I will rewind it and watch it.

Anyone think the NFL Network knew that it was their debut night on Buffalo cable or was it just a coincidence that they showed the SB XXV highlights?

223534

On what channel do I find NFL network on Buffalo cable?
