You mean Orthodox Jews ? Welcome back Mel Gibson.

If you think Orthodox Jews follow the Torah word for word you know nothing about the old testament.

correction: all religion is bull**** TO YOU.

there are many people who follow their religion, whichever it is, that are kind, peaceful, generous members of their communities, that got that way by embracing the tenets of their faith and living according to them they best they can.

there are also many people who will lump all kinds of people into one group and call the whole group bull****. it saves them from onerous tasks like making distinctions, or thinking.

"Follow" your religion by cherry-picking all the nice things and disregarding all the bad? There is a reason that the ones that follow the most closely to their religion are the terrorists and extremists. It's because the major religions are full of immoral rules and commands.

Do Jews execute husbands/wives for having sex on their period? No because they know its bronze age bull **** and not the word of "god". Do they still burn their finest bull at an altar to please god? Do they execute their children for disobeying their parents? No because they realize that they have a higher moral compass than the book they follow.

It's the same reason women can teach at Catholic/Christian schools. We ignore what we don't like.

why should all religious texts from ancient times be held as immutable truth when we hold nothing else to the same standard? is the message of love and acceptance taught by Jesus Christ to be deligitimized because the bible also says that the earth is the center of the universe? is it cherry-picking to acknowledge the obvious truth that we're made of the same stuff as this earth (ashes to ashes, dust to dust) while also believing that humanity evolved from a lower form of primate? is it blasphemous to equate the big bang with the biblical 'let there be light', or is it scientifically ignorant to compare the two?

understanding life - past, present, and future - requires thought. both religion and science attempt to explain life, this world, and how it works. science is always changing. it grows as we do. in order to keep science from making religion irrelevant, religion needs to evolve as well. do you believe that one man defeated an entire army using nothing more than the jawbone of an ass? do you believe that the entire globe actually produced enough precipitation to flood itself, killing every non-aquatic creature save for one family and a male & female from every species until the waters finally (and very mysteriously since it had nowhere to go) receded? or that the first woman was built around a rib taken from the first man?

the problem with some followers of religion is that they have no imagination, and either no capacity for thought or no desire to think. they either need to be told how to live, or to tell others how to live, and when they see others acting outside the established parameters of their belief system, they scorn them. they condemn those that believe differently. they see bad behavior among a segment of another group and call them infidels, unbelievers, sinners, or fools, and condemn them all as being the same, as being ignorant or evil.

just as there is intolerance among those who adhere to the absolute, literal word of their faith, so is there intolerance on the part of another who comdemns all people of that faith as being ignorant or dangerous. both groups are simply retarded.

I guess my overall point is that there is no difference between Islam, Christianity, and Judaism they all have !@#$ed up bronze and dark age values throughout them. The only differences in is in the populations, as there are very few Christians, and virtually no Jews that follow their books word for word. That's not the case with Islam, as their is a small minority that does.

if it's just a small minority of Muslims that take every word of the Quran literally, then why paint with such a broad brush in the way you regard them?

"If They [Muslims] Had Gotten Rid of the Punishment for Apostasy, Islam Would Not Exist Today"

by Ex-Muslim Nonie Darwish

February 5, 2013

The West refuses to be concerned; and when its citizens are concerned, they are suppressed. They are sued, assaulted, threatened with deportation and sometimes murdered.

The most influential Sunni leader in the Middle East has just admitted what many of us who grew up as Muslims in the Middle East have always known: that Islam could not exist today without the killing of apostates. Yusuf al-Qaradawi, head of the Muslim Brotherhood and one of the most respected leaders of the Sunni world, recently said on Egyptian television, "If they [Muslims] had gotten rid of the punishment [often death] for apostasy, Islam would not exist today." The most striking thing about his statement, however, was that it was not an apology; it was a logical, proud justification for preserving the death penalty as a punishment for apostasy. Al-Qaradawi sounded matter-of-fact, indicating no moral conflict, nor even hesitation, about this policy in Islam. On the contrary, he asserted the legitimacy of Islamic laws in relying on vigilante street justice through fear, intimidation, torture and murder against any person who might dare to leave Islam.

Many critics of Islam agree with Sheikh Qaradawi, that Islam could not have survived after the death of the prophet Mohammed if it were not for the killing, torturing, beheading and burning alive of thousands of people -- making examples of them to others who might wish to venture outside Islam. From its inception until today, Islam has never considered this policy inappropriate, let alone immoral. In a recent poll, 84% of Egyptians agree with the death penalty for apostates; and we see no moderate Muslim movement against this law. That 1.2 billion Muslims appear comfortable with such a command sheds light on the nature of Islam.

China Blames Muslim Separatists for Knife Attack That Killed At Least 29

By Daniel Politi

The bizarre mass stabbing that killed at least 29 people and wounded 143 at a train station in southern China was the work of separatists from the far west of the country, according to authorities. Police fatally shot four of the estimated 10 masked assailants, bringing the total death toll to 33, according to the official Xinhua News Agency. Although the identities of the attackers are still uknown, Xinhua publishes a separate story noting that “evidence at the crime scene showed that the Kunming Railway Station terrorist attack was orchestrated by Xinjiang separatist force.” The far western region of Xinjiag is where members of the Muslim Uighur community have launched a rebellion against Beijing. On Sunday, police began rounding up members of the small Uighur community for questioning, according to the Associated Press.

If what the authorities are saying is true, what the Chinese media are already referring to as “China’s 9-11” would mark the first time the people from Xinjiang have been blamed for such a deadly and large-scale attack and it illustrates how the violence is no longer confined to Xinjiang as it once was. “Tensions are likely to get much worse before they get better,” writes Bloomberg’s Christina Larson. “While most of China’s 10 million Uighurs are neither murderers nor active participants in a separatist movement, suspicion falls on all.” And it’s exactly this type of generalization and assumption of guilt that angers members of the community.
