In depth 2013 Bills assesment

Recommended Posts

Miami is definitely being overhyped. Tannehill didn't have a great season and I don't see him making a leap this year. They would win more games with Moore under center. Jonathan Martin at LT is a bit of a question mark, as is Lamar Miller, though there is reason to believe both will have some success. Talent wise, our defense has some unknowns but I can see us at the very least matching up with them.

Miami is overhyped every off season. Yet, they still pull off more wins then the nay-sayers all expect.

Translating Cicero from Latin into English (and completing the passage):

But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing of a pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure? On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain. These cases are perfectly simple and easy to distinguish. In a free hour, when our power of choice is untrammeled and when nothing prevents our being able to do what we like best, every pleasure is to be welcomed and every pain avoided. But in certain circumstances and owing to the claims of duty or the obligations of business it will frequently occur that pleasures have to be repudiated and annoyances accepted. The wise man therefore always holds in these matters to this principle of selection: he rejects pleasures to secure other greater pleasures, or else he endures pains to avoid worse pains.

Remember when Jim Kelly was our QB ? Go to this site to see just how good he was... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoG_2qLThgk&feature=player_embedded He had a wonderful O-line. Both OTs could set up for pass defense quickly and the middle three were like a wall giving Kelly time to find his talented WRs. Do you feel our present O-line can provide similar protection for our QB? Will Emanual eventually have the great presence Kelly had in the pocket? We certainly have the running backs and a quality OC ..... I think we will have a good offense this year, but its fun looking back at just how great Kelly was and the team... Go Bills.... Who were the Offensive linemen back then... Anyone remember ?

. I will bite...they were wolford ritcher hull davis and ballard and usually 3 of the 5 were pro bowlers each year

Respectively, I don't think there's anything "definite" about it. Ryan Tannehill was a less accurate passer than Fitzpatrick and threw more interceptions than touchdowns. The Dolphins lost their best offensive weapon of the last several years in Reggie Bush, who represented more than 25% of offensive production. Despite his contribution, they were 27th in points scored and 27th in yards earned. I don't think there's anything definitive about it until we actually see some of these guys take the field. Clearly, there have been some substantially big changes for both teams. PS - if you're going to pull the defense argument, don't bother. The Dolphins were good in points allowed due to turnovers, which you cannot guarantee year to year. The teams were 21st and 22nd respectively in yards -allowed. Also not that impressive.

Their defense has a well established pass rusher in Cameron Wake. They have two pro-bowl DTs playing on that defensive line. There is a *GOOD* reason why they had so many turnovers and I don't understand why you would wave away something like that as something that cannot be repeated. The dolphins defense has been consistent now for a few years. They have also added a pass rusher in the draft. This defensive line can give the Bills the shivers down their spine.

On offense this is 2nd year of Tannehill and they have definitely added weapons for him. Wallace is a legit #1 that they lacked last year. He can make Tannehill now a better QB than he was last year.

I am a big BILLS FAN, but I think the Dolphins have a better team *RIGHT NOW* than us and it is not a crime to state that.
