Clay Matthews signs new contract

Other than, say, JJ Watt? Or Von Miller? Or Geno Atkins? Or Aldon Smith?

Matthews is a "game changer?" 2 seasons ago, he anchored the worst pass D in NFL history.

Not true. Opposing QBs had a passer rating of 80.6 against GB in 2011: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/gnb/2011.htm . They gave up the most yards, but were 19th in points allowed and 1st in INTs. Remember that it was garbage time early in a ton of Pack games in 2011 - passing yards piled up. The Bills, for instance, were significantly worse on pass defense in 2011, allowing opposing QBs to rack up a 90.4 rating.

In the other three seasons he has played, the Pack has finished 2nd, 5th, and 11th in yards allowed.

And how did a rush LB who racked up double digit sacks "anchor" the worst pass D?

The 2011 Packers D, on which Matthews was the best player (the "anchor", if you will), gave the most yards and were ranked 27th in passing TDs given up.

Anyway, I was responding to the poster's claim that this guy, af all people, was the most game changing D palyer in the NFL. This is obviously untrue. Arguably not even in the top 5.
