Quarterbacks & Rounds I’d be OK with us drafting them in

Recommended Posts

Capernick wasn't a blue chip. Wilson wasn't a blue chip according to the same 'Experts' on ESPN, NFLN etc and they were wrong. Just like they will be wrong on 2-3 of these guys.

Well "Kaepernick" was blue chip in all things physical and mental/intangible... they just didn't like the offense he came out of. Russell was blue chip in everything but height. Those 2 things knocked them out of first round, but not based on any true limitations to their ability, or rather ability. Not sure you can say the same about this year's crop as they have other issues... like accuracy, athleticism, leadership, decision-making, etc. Anyways,

First: Geno, Barkley (but no trade ups.. both are iffy here for me as it is. Barkley pending on acceptable arm strength at pro day)

2nd: Manuel, Nassib

3rd: Wilson, Scott

4th: Bray, Dysert

No Interest: L.Jones, Glennon

any quarterback, any round. i don't care who or where as long as they feel strongly about the guy. just pick a guy and don't appologize for it, if it doesn't work out try again next year.

This is exactly how I feel. It is up to the Bills scouts and Front office to identify one QB from this class that has the best chance of being successful and then do whatever it takes to get him. I don;t know enough about the prospects (and neither does anyone on this board, regardless of what they say), to be able to give an accurate opinion on this subject. I will trust the Bills to identify the guy and go get him. If he doesn't show any signs that he can be the guy, then do the same thing again next year. We need a QB before any of the other positions make any difference whatsoever.

Not high on Glennon, huh?

No, poor footwork, relatively slow, poor decision making, and Inconsistent. You can't teach speed, or decision making. He panics in the pocket when things start collapsing and just dumps the ball. With Fitz at least he had football smarts. But he could not back up those smarts with his arm. Glennon does not even have the smarts of Fitz. And we had enough inconsistency from Fitz for 10 years. Glennon is project, and we don't have the luxury of a project on the Bills. He will not last till the 4 or 5th where you can afford to pick "projects". Too many problems, with not a lot of upside for an early round pick. PASS! A late pick for a project has to have a lot of possible upside. Like Jones, I just don't see a lot of upside for him, what you see right now is probably all you are ever going to get.

Manuel won't be there at #41 IMO. In fact, I'm willing to be my third nut that he goes in the top 20.

Now if you were so sure you were willing to give up one of your first two nuts, maybe then we would really believe you were that sure, LOL

Agree but would put Wilson in 2nd and Nassib in 3rd. Agree withJones and Glennon. No interest in guys with poor pocket awareness

Spot on. I just laugh when I see people talking about Smith or Barkley in the 2nd round. Neither one of them will be there at 8 and like you say Manuel won't be there in the 2nd round either. So if you want him you better take him with 8 or find a way to trade back a little bit, but don't go back too far because I could see him getting snatched up if you get too cute with it.

I’m not saying they will be there, but these are the QBs and the rounds I’d be comfortable with the Bills drafting them in if they were available. I’m assuming there are no trades up or down, so we are drafting at our assigned positions. If we traded down with our 1st for a late first and an extra 1st or 2nd , I would be comfortable with taking one of the round 2 QBs with a late 1st. What would be your Round / QB comfort list?

Round 1 Smith

Round 2 Wilson, Manuel

Round 3,4 Dysert, Scott, Brey, Nassib

How I think (I hope) it will shake out for Buf is we go best available WR at number 8. then whatever QB they like thats left in rnd 2..then hoping its LB and TE in 3rd and 4th. if they do that it won't be the worst draft for us.

Screw the pick at 8, trade down and get extra picks. God knows we have holes everywhere and both Smith and Barkley will be off the board by 8. Glennon, Wilson, and Brey are all accurate throwers with zip on the ball and I like them all better than Barkley. Wilson was the unfortunate recipient of a terrible receiver and offensive line corp his senior year, but he lit it up the scoreboard in his junior campaign. My guess is we'll get Nassib at 41 as the Syracuse floodgates remain open.

Round 1 Smith

Round 2 Dysert, Manuel, Barkley (yes, in that order and I would not reach for any of them at 8)

Round 3 Brey, Nassib, Scott, Glennon

Next year: Rinse and repeat. Try for the next best QB and have a real competition and some depth at young QB on your roster in case your first option gets his eggs scrambled and loses his mojo.
