how to make the Pro Bowl More interesting

How about playing the game on a beach and no helmets or pads sort of a sand lot football format.

You're right - the fundamental problem is that the players don't want to (and shouldn't have to) risk their careers for a meaningless game. And tackle football just isn't worth watching if nobody's trying.

I think sand might cause a few knee blowouts, but they definitely should make it a flag football game. A regular football stadium would be fine.

And from a fan perspective, it would be fun to see the players doing something they're not 100% used to. You might even see some crazy plays and juke moves being made.

I say, just name a team by a mixed formula of writers, players, and head coaches.

Have a 1st team and 2nd team named. Reveal them the week before or of the Superbowl. This way you get 1st and 2nd team pro bowlers at each position. Nobody can decline, and being named is an honor similar to a "Gold Glove", and carries no further committment.

Replace the Pro Bowl with a skills competition. Hitting Targets with passes, hitting moving targets, furthest pass, slalom like out and back course for receivers, 100 yard race for RBs, Longest FG, Accurate Punt, etc...

The "Pro Bowl" 1st and 2nd team can be revealed during the skills competition.

So the league should spend tens of millions of extra dollars incenting players to injure each other during a meaningless exhibition?

The pro bowl sucks because it's a stupid, pointless game in the first place. Fans don't care because fans don't root for individual players, they root for teams (hence your NASCAR comparison is meaningless). And if fans don't care, the game isn't going to generate any more revenue. Thus, the league has no interest in spending any more money on it.

This just in, players play for money,

wouldn't be so meaningless If you are actually playing for something besides the chump change they throw at you.

why do you think the shootout in Nascar works? Its for the most part meaningless, but the prize money draws the crowds/ viewers/enthusiasm.

There are many, many ways to improve the Pro Bowl with incentives...

Thanks for repeating the exact same thing you posted before. This just in: it doesn't make any more sense the second time.

The Nascar thing works because that is their playoffs and it determines the season champion. Tens of millions of people watch it on TV and hundreds of thousands watch the races at the track. That means it generates lots of revenue. The Pro Bowl doesn't generate that kind of revenue because football is a team sport so fans only care about watching teams and seeing who wins the championship. Fans aren't going to start watching the Pro Bowl simply because the players are getting more money.

And if it isn't going to generate more revenue, it sure doesn't make any sense to pay the players millions of dollars (or whatever figure you believe is going to motivate those 100 players to care).

Nobody wants to improve the Pro Bowl. All anybody cares about is that there team's players don't get hurt.
