How can we bank on him being our #2 starter opposite Stevie? IMO...we need to bring in a mid-tier FA WR (Garcon, Meachum, B. Lloyd, Manningham, L. Robinson), and also draft a WR in the middle rounds of the draft (unless a guy like Sanu or Jeffery drops to us in round 2). If Stevie re-signs and Welker and Bowe get tagged, the list of available UFA WR's becomes a lot thinner and the guys you mention become the top available guys and not simply "mid-tier" free agents. Even though it probably won't happen, i think we should trade back this yr and add another pick in the 2nd if possible, unless our FO is sold on a guy like Rieff or Martin. Brandon Posted February 26, 2012 Share Posted February 26, 2012 I really don't think you can go into the season relying on a 4th round pick who hasn't even been on the field for a regular season game in two years because he can't stay healthy. Given how desperate they were for help at WR for much of this year, I think they'd be wise to add some quality competition at that position in the first two or three rounds this year, assuming they don't sign anyone as a free agent. Jones had some good showings, Easley clearly has potential, and Roscoe has a lot to offer. Problem is Roscoe and Easley have ended on IR each of the last 2 seasons and Jones couldn't stay healthy this past season. I like Easley's potential but he is unproven and potentially damaged goods. A good 3rd round receiver might be Brian Quick from App State. It depends how you define quality. I can't point to any of then and say that's the guy I'm counting on. Hence the comment we need another receiver. However, to say there's nothing behind Stevie is an overstatement.. We've got a talented productive receiver in Roscoe who does what he does very well; he just can't stay on the field. Easley may or may not have anything to offer. Neither of us knows. D Jones isn't a polished WR2 yet but he made some plays & could improve with experience. The offense worked with him in it. Again, I wouldn't want to rely on him but let's not be overly fatalistic here. Can't be Meachem. Garcon? Manningham? Lloyd is a nice player but on the wrong side of 30 I believe. Definitely not Robinson. Buffalo Barbarian Posted February 27, 2012 Share Posted February 27, 2012 We all know Stevie's gonna get a deal done, it's just a matter of time...hopefully within the next week or so(according to stevie). All of you who think we need a playmaker opposite Johnson, i agree, but i believe that guy is already on our team...MARCUS EASLEY. He showed flashes of what he's capable of in preseason before his medical condition was discovered. This is a big, fast receiver who i think will eventually become a huge part of this team. As far as the slot goes, we have Nelson, and maybe we draft someone with a skillset similar to parrish in the later rounds. Derek Hagan seemed to play well this past year, but in no way is he a permanant solution. I think we let him compete this summer and see how he matches up against our other wideouts. Just my opinion, thoughts? Who knows if Easly can be healthy and Nix made it clear we need to upgrade our WRs because he knows they are all UDFAs or late rounders and just are good depth guys. Stephen Hill or Tommy Streeter get my vote and Devon Wylie or Chris Rainey to replace Parrish. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He has played exactly 0 NFL regular season downs in 2 years and (obviously) has 0 catches. They need to have a better plan for another offensive weapon than "hey, let's hope that guy that started part of one season at U Conn miraculously turns into a star". Your spot on!
