Another payroll question - where to find W2 forms online?

I know I did this last year, but I can't seem to find the W2/W3 forms that you can fill in online and the print out.

I'm not looking to file online, just fill and print and give to my secretary and mail in.

All I'm finding are the efile kind or one that looks like a W2 paper version, but they warn you not to use that because it won't scan for them and they'll penalize you.

Well, that's strange. Sorry, I don't have any other answers.

Yeah, it turns out they just are not online. I could have sworn I did it that way last year. Of course, it would help if I wasn't doing this right before the deadline.

And, what would really help is if they just mailed them like they always did.....So, they don't mail them and they don't have it online. Ridiculous.

IIRC, you need to ask them to mail you the official forms if you want to do it manually. The IRS is really trying to push employers to file them electronically.

What's wrong with efiling the w-2s? It's so easy, especially if you only have a small # to process.

Speaking of payroll , got a letter from G E telling me what my rate of pay is straight time and over time have to sign it and send it back to them. Some new law in NY state that they have to tell you what you get paid

From your link:

To order official IRS forms, call 1-800-TAX-FORM (1-800-829-3676) or

,

and we'll mail you the scannable forms and other products.

If that fails, you can contact your local IRS office.

Yeah, that might be good to know for next year, but not for this year since they are due by 1/31, and my secretary really wanted hers over the weekend.

Is there anybody's W2 in particular you're looking for?

Yeah, yours.

How about this:

W-2 Online - Complete up to 20 Forms W-2 right on your computer, electronically submit them to Social Security and print copies suitable for distribution to your employees. No software is needed.

I did see that in my searching, but didn't know what enrolling in that entailed. I was just looking for a fillin form that I could print out and give to her and mail in. Like every other payroll thing I ever have to do..........I will take the time to enroll in these for next year, but I was just trying to do it simple and quick with no enrolling and all that. I just got back from out of town and she put me under the gun to give her this right away.

According to these instructions, time frame is immediate.

http://www.socialsecurity.gov/employer/05-10033.pdf

Your user ID is displayed to you upon completion of registration, and you create your own password.

Once you have your user ID and password, you can immediately access the system (i.e file a W2).

Now, whether or not you have all the information needed to complete the registration...

Yep, that is called the wage theft prevention act. I work for patches, so we are making sure all of our clients are aware of thus legislation in NY, because we can foresee the department of labor doing some auditing of personnel files this year. Fine is pretty steep too.

Oh, well that's easy. Here's one I use for the NFP I keep the books on:

You simply register wtih your EIN# and select the appropriate forms (W-2 in your case). The efile happens and the secretary (and presumably you) get a hard copy mailed to her/you. It takes five minutes.

Yet another ridiculous and useless piece of legislation that does nothing but drive up the cost of doing business in NYS.
