Not going to comment on the legal issues of the whole thing but honestly, if people are really doing this purely because they can't afford the cost of getting it commercially, they have no right to attempt to bring a child into the world. If they're "taking a stand" about the absurd costs of testing and associated BS whatever, but don't make the guy into some kind of hero.

So because a couple does not have enough coin to cover fertility, they should not be allowed to be parents?

He's not a hero, but if he's disease-free and women/couples are willing to use his stuff, the gubment has no business having any say.
