Ralph should be horse whipped for ever letting the likes of a GM like Pollian walk out the door !! If that doesn't rank as THE MOST IGNORANT DECISION MADE BY A OWNER (besides trading & paying the likes of Rob Johnson to be your team leader) i don't know what is !!!!!! In that case, the Bills are ahead of some teams. However, that is washed out IMO as I truly believe winning is a low priority. Lower than any other NFL team. The owner/management isnt going anywhere. What, that Polians Colts are 0-12 right now without Manning and he may again fall into a position to get another franchise QB #1 overall in the draft this year? dpberr Posted December 8, 2011 Share Posted December 8, 2011 What people don't realize about the Colts situation is that they don't have a lot of room to pay top notch talent with the contracts they've got on the books and still make a profit. They are very fortunate to have rookie salaries capped. Even with that, paying a #1 draft pick while paying Manning, Freeney and the rest of the gang is going to make it very difficult to fix that roster, especially on defense. Just not enough money to go around to fix every position of need. They don't bring in a lot of revenue. From the revenue end, they are being pushed by the debt and operating the football team in Indianapolis, not Dallas. It is inevitable the product on the field will suffer. Too much debt and too long of a lease at Lucas to sell the team, and if your revenues stay the same, you cut expenses like big contracts for players and coaches. Indy was fortunate to ride an all world QB for as long as they did. That's why the best bet is to keep Manning and trade for lots of draft picks...a mix of 1st, 2nd and 3rds. that you can afford to pay and keep on the roster for a couple years. Keep the 36 year old QB coming off multiple neck surgeries and pass on the once-a-generation QB prospect who you can sign for reasonable money thanks to the rookie salary cap. Do you really think Polian is going to go that route? My guess is that he will let Manning walk (the amount and timing of his bonus will make it difficult to trade him) or Manning will retire. He'll clean house by trading Wayne, Clark, Freeney and Mathis for draft picks. He'll still have decent skill position players (Collie, Garcon, Gonzalez). First priority will be offensive line to make sure Luck doesn't get David Carr'ed. One or two more down years. Year three back to competing for a Super Bowl.
