Is that different? Think of the jobs that would be provided. Bills tickets can be purchased on the open market from a variety of sellers. There are no other classical music radio stations. It’s a market failure, and the CPB fills it.

Celebrating Pride Month on Sesame Street with gay cross dressing puppets is the epitome of propaganda. If people want that then they can pay their own money to watch it. Capitalism is great that way

B-Man Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Lefties cooking the books ? Say it aint so. NPR, PBS Raked In Millions More Taxpayer Dollars Than They Indicated On Returns, Report Shows by Ireland Owens National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) both received significantly more taxpayer funding in Fiscal Year 2023 than they had indicated on their tax returns, according to an OpenTheBooks report published Thursday. On a tax return for the fiscal year ending in September 2023, NPR reported that it received just $40,000 from American taxpayers, which came from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CBP), a nonprofit organization that invests in public broadcasting, according to OpenTheBooks’ analysis. That amount made up just 0.04% of the $98.57 million in grants NPR received from “all parties” during that period, according to the report. https://dailycaller.com/2025/05/01/npr-pbs-raked-in-millions-of-tax-dollars/ https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/520907625/202432279349302138/full DOGE Opponents Play at Saving Elmo While NPR, PBS Execs Rake in Taxpayer Cash DOGE has identified the outlets for elimination as Congress works to pass Trump agenda. https://openthebooks.substack.com/p/doge-opponents-play-at-saving-elmo

Sesame Street is prominently featured on the PBS Kids website.   How embarrassing that you don’t even know how to work a Google search.

Why should your headbanging neighbor pay for your listening preferences?

Fine arts require extra funding because there’s little to no profit incentive for it. But it still benefits people. Thus, the CPB.

Nobody should be forced to pay for it. Classical music can be listened to for free 24/7. Time to cue/queue up your next outrage. Probably something about farmers or factory workers. 1

JDHillFan said over the air radio is dead! Pack it up! The arts and sciences are the best use for tax money. Better than military parades, that’s for sure.

Better use than for hundreds of subscriptions to Politico Pro? You were a strong advocate for that expenditure. Better use than supporting American soft power around the world? If you start a go fund me for your classical music needs, I will donate. Keep me posted. 1

Keep me posted. Politico Pro is a tool for government workers to do their job better. US soft power keeps us on top of the mountain. A healthy nation funds the fine arts. Not military parades.

He certainly did not read the President Trump announcement posted above. 1

Maybe it’s just your general need to make extreme statements. If you were to rank THE BEST USE of tax dollars (which moments ago was arts and sciences), how would you stack: soft power politico pro arts and sciences

At the end of the day, it’s just another item on the list of stuff us Dems are going to have to reinstate once we’re back in power. 1 minute ago, JDHillFan said: Just trying to understand your position because it seems to change frequently. For example, we attract (or did attract) top musicians to schools like the Juilliard School. This benefits the nation and keeps us above other countries.

The arts and sciences will survive perfectly fine without government propping up NPR. You can take that off your long list of concerns. On your behalf I will rank funding arts and sciences ahead of politico pro subscriptions but throw another wrench in - where do you rank funding arts and sciences (THE BEST use of tax dollars) vs funding the 10% of NOAA that is on the chopping block? 1
JDHillFan Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago If, as a people, we are unwilling to fund all this, what are we willing to fund? So sad! Highly recommend scrolling through. It’s fun!
