Lee has lost a step. So where does that leave us after he's dealt? Outside - Stevie (obviously) and donald jones (6'0 208 4.45 40time http://nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=89116&draftyear=2010&genpos=WR'>http://nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=89116&draftyear=2010&genpos=WR) Slot - Roscoe (obviously) and david nelson (6'5 221 4.45 40 at UF pro day) --> also expect a lot of Brad Smith/CJ Spiller lined up in the formations too. X-factors - Easley (6'3 210 4.39 40time http://nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=89116&draftyear=2010&genpos=WR) Naaman - great hands, not fast, we are all familiar with him and his limitations. I'm doubting buster davis makes the team, but would be quite happy with those 6 guys + Brad smith. Donald Jones really came on last year, and if Easley can stay healthy he has eric moulds size/speed. Lee still brings something: “Even though they all can get deep here and there, nobody else in the receiver corps has the speed that Lee has,” Wilson said. “That’s what makes him such an asset. Unfortunately for hime, he's had to play with the carousel of QB's, OC, and coaches in his time at Buffalo. IMHO, I think we should keep him. You can't count on Easley or Roscoe to stay healthy. Buster is a question mark. I think with a full year under Fitz's belt as being the starter, familair with the new system and coaches, I think Lee will be back to his game changing self. I don't think his play is why they would trade him. I think it's more along the lines that Chan is changing up his play book using more screens and mid-field play, which is why he wanted to get Lee in the slot more and that position is crowded. It's not like our OT's will give Fitz time to toss deep anyway. That's the silver lining of trading Lee--getting these young guys more PT. Look what Steve Johnson did when given the chance. The few times that guys like Nelson, Jones, and Roosevelt got PT last year, they all showed real flashes. I'm not interested in the 4th round pick or whatever garbage pick we get for trading away Evans. But the unintended benefit of such a move would be the emergence of one of our young guys. If they trade Evans, that will confirm that they have no intentions or desires to win, only to save money and will make it a non arguable fact that we have the most clueless front office in football. Turbosrrgood Posted August 12, 2011 Share Posted August 12, 2011 (edited) I don't believe Lee has necessarily lost a step...But If I had to pick someone else to start opposite SJ, it would definitely be Nelson. The guy is big, with great hands. He isn't a burner, but runs great routes and is athletic. Donald Jones looked good, but I thought his play was pretty inconsistent when he was in there last year and his hands are questionable. Just a few weeks ago people were wondering if he was going to make the team, now he's starter quality? I like Jones as depth for now, if he impresses, then maybe. Easley is intriguing, but no one has really seen him play in practice or preseason...WAY too premature to consider him a starter. Unlike some, I think Davis will make the team barring injury. Nix loves this guy, and I think he wants to justify SD spending a 1st on him when he was there. He is a possibility also, but I'd rather just keep Evans... I dont think money is an issue for us but his current contract is a up side to where he would go. I would not deal him for less than a 3rd and a 5th, but getting a needed player would be best.
